REGULAR MEETINGo
A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Vernon, County of Los Angeles, and State of California, was held
on the 17th day of March , 19E5, at ro 0 I clock.!:. M. of
said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said City
of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by
ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board to be held.
There were present at such meeting Trustees,
Furlong, Kniffin, Leonis, Durbin and Levy.
There were absent from such meeting Trustee,
None

UNFINISHED EUSINESS:
ORDINMJCE 350: An ordinance granting the Southern Pacific Company, a spur
track across, Center Street, was read in full for a second reading.
It was moved by Levy and seconded by Leonis that Ordinance 350 be passed for
a second reading. Motion carried.
ORDINMiCE 350: Ordinance 350 was read for a third reading.
It was moved by Leoni8 and seconded by ~evy that Urdinance 350 be adopted.
Motion carried.

At this time the time set for the opening of bids for the sewer bonds, the
following bids were read.

Par plus accrued interest to date of delivery, together with a premium of

A.PPLICATION 513: :&'or a building permit by George J. Poxon for remodeling
decorating room was read.
It was moved by Levy and seconded by Kniffin that permit be laid over, not
having the aJproval of the City Engineer. Motion carried.
APPLICATION 514 & 515: for excavations on 36th and 37th streets by the
Southern Galifornia Gas Company weee read.
It was moved by -evy and seconded by Kniffin that applications be filed and
permits granted.'Motion carried.
APPLICATIOll 517: for an excavation permit by 'l~.W.r\iaxwell for sewer conllecti
om on ~ast 27th Street, 2651 West of Santa Fe Avenae, was read.

APPLICATION 518: for an excavation permit for the storage tank of 1,000
gallons for gasoline by the Vondes l>un1p Company was read.
It was moved by Kniffin and seconded by Levy that same be referred to the
City Engineer for investigation and re~ort. Motion carried.
APPLICATION 519: of the Southetn California Gas ComJany for excavation permit
to repair service at 5200 Santa Fe Avenue, was read.
It was moved by Levy and seconded by Kniffin that application be filed and
permit granted. Motion carried.
APPLICATION 520: for abuilding permit of the .Ulson & Willard Company for an
addition to their present plant at an approx cost of $350.00 was read.
It was moved by ~evy and seconded by Kniffin that the application be filed
and permit granted. Motion carried.
APPLICATIOH 521: for abuilding permit of" Globe Mills Company to construct a
Charcoal shed at an approximate cost of ~:~250 .00 was read.
It was moved by Levy and seconded by Kniffin that the Application be filed
and permit granted. Motion carried.

A communication was received from D.E.Viel ts for a position as engineer of the
pumping plant and a communication from George :;)arver for a position as
janitor at the neW City Aall. also a cOIDnlunication from J.R.Richardsom for a
position as janitor ~n the City Iall, Ray E. Mcallister for a position as
motor cycle officer and a communi cation from Vi.O .Byam for a position as
engineer of 'the Vwater plant, a comr:uniaation fromT. C .Cychus for a position
on the Fire ~epartment were read.

A cOmDlunication from the State Board of Health regarding appropriation to
fight the bubonic plague was read.
It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Levy that same be filed. Motion carrii
ORDINMfCE 351: An ordinance of the Board of Trustees of the City o~ Vernon
amending Ordinance 349, was read in full for a first reading.
It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Levy that the same be passed for a
first reading. Motion carried.
A communication from the Los Angeles Paving Company for a permit to operate
a paving plant in the City of Vernon was read.
It was moved by teonis and seconded by Levy that said communication be filed
and permit granted. Motion carried.
It was moved by "eonis and secondec by l-evy that the night police clerk's
salary be raised-from $90.00 to $10U.00 per month, beginning April 1st 1925.
Motion carried.
Bills being presented against the City in the sum of $20,315.72 against the
construction fund and for $2,583.23 against the general fund, were read.
It was moved by Leonis and seconded by ~evy that the bills be allowed and
warrants drawn. Motion carried.
It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Levy that the meeting adjourn to
March 20th 1925, at 10 o'clock A.M. Motion carried
