REGULAR MEETING.
A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Vernon, County of Los Angeles, and State of California, was held
on the l,,2th day of May , 19:f6, at ~ 0' clock P.' M. of
said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said City
of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by
ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board to be held.
There were present at such meeting Trustees,
Furlong, Knifiin,Leonis, Durbin and Levy.
There were absent from such meeting Trustee,
None
President Trustee J.J.Furlong
presiding.
The minutes of the meeting, held on
May 5th 1925

read.
Moved by Durbin seconded by Kniffin that the minutes as read be approve~
Bids for the furnishing of the necessary materials to construct a
a concrete pipe trench according to the plans and specifications thereof
prepared by Eoward McCurdy, City Engineer were read.
It was moved by Kniffin seconded by Durbin tha~ the bid be referred to ~
the City Engineer for checking and report. Mot~on carried.
The City Clerk reported that there were sufficient names upon the Downey
Road petition for annexation and that he verified the same with the
County Register.

Moved by Durbin seconded by Kniffin that the report of the City Clerk
be received an~ filed.
RES:.NO. 362; A resolution of the Board of J!rusteesof jihe City of Vernon
calling a sJecial election of said Downey Road territory to be held on
the 30~h day of June, was read.
Moved by Levy seconded by Durbin that Resolution No. 362 be adopted.
Motion carried. r
APPL: No 564,565,5in, Applications for permits were read.
It was moved by ~evy seconded by YJliffin that the applications be filed
and permits granted. Motion carried.
It was moved by Durbin seconded }rt Kniffin that the City 1'ngineer prepam
plans for the opening and widening of Vernon Avenue from Santa Fe Ave.,
to Alameda Street in the City of Vernon. Motion carried.
It was moved by Levy seconded by Durbin that the City Clerk be instruct~
to advertise for fire hose and for the electric wiring in the pumping
plant and bids to be received on the 2nd dat of June 1925. Motion
carried. '
It was moved by Levy seconded by ~eonis that the Oity Attorney and City
Engineer be instructed to make appli~ation to the Railroad Commission
for a permit to cross A:arneda Street at 49th Street and at the same time
petition said Railroad Commission for permission to construct a tempora:w
crossing at a point approximately 100 feet north of 52nd Street until
the permanent crossing is completed. Motion carried.
RES: NO. 363; covering the above subject was read.
Moved by Leonis seconded by YJliffin that Resolution No. 363 be adopted

It was koved by Levy seconded by Durbin that a com;]i ttee of a whole be appointed
to make a survey of the City in reference to Elore amply protective measures in
reference to fires, also the best method of handling the water department and
report back to the Board of r.rrustees, said comEli ttee shall investigate the
necessity of employing assistants and to extend the sum of money in this work
not to exceed $1500.00 All assistants reconllilended or employed by this committee
shall before entering upon their duties be submitted to the Board for approval.
Motion carried.
The City Engineer recomm.ended the appointment of Robert Hunt & Company, Enginee~
to be ~ppointed inspectors to inspect the cast iron pipe to be used in the City~
';later JJepprtment and to be furnished by l)acifi c .Pipe & Supply Company.
RES: NO; 364, appointing Robert JLunt & Company, insj)ectors for the City of Vern<n
on cast ironiipe was read.
Moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy that Resolution No. 364 be adopted. Motion
carried.
There being no further business it was moved by Durbin seconded by Y~iffin that
the meeting adjourn. Motion carried.
