A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon, County of Los Angeles, and State of California, was held on the 9th day of June ' 19~5' at 10 0' clock l.. Moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy that the minutes of the Adjourned ~egular Meeting of June 2nd be laid over. Motion carried. The City Clerk was instructed to open bids submitted for the constr- uction of the Northwest Sewer District. Bid of Jack Taylor was read. Bid of Joe Chutuk was read. Bid of C.N.Fish was read. A motion was made by Durbin, seconded by Levy that the bids be referred to the City Engineer for checking and report. Motion carried. Applications Nos., 573, 583, 584, 585 were read. Motion was made by levy and seconded by Durbin that applicatios 573, 583m 584, 5 85 be filed and permits granted. Motion carried. The City Attorney was instructed to draw a deed, deeding a certain two feet of property to the Unites States Steel Products. Motion made by Durbin, seconded by Levy.Motion carried. A co~nunivation from the Asbury Truck Company, regarding payment for ~ hauling cast iron pipe from Los Angeles harbor to the City of Vernon was read. A motion was made by Leonis, and seconded by Levy that the communication from the Asbury Truck Company be referred to the City Engineer. Motion carried. A communication from the Boyle Dayton Company regarding water comnection to the municipal system was read. A motion was made by Leonis and seconded by Levy that the communication from the Boyle Dayton Company be filed. Motion carried. An application from the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad Company, regarding a franchise for a second track across Jaboneria Road was read. It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Levy that the application for a franchise for a second track across Jaboneria Road by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company be passed for a first reading. Motion carried. A cQwnunication from Bradstreet Miller, regarding the annexation of the Slauson Avenue District was read. It was moved by Leonis and seconded b~Levy that the City Clerk be instructed to write a letter of thanks to Mr. Miller for his attitude in regards to the recent annexation. Motion carried. An application by L. Niener for permission to sell ice cream from a wagon on the streets of the City of Vernon was read. A motion was made by Levy and seconded by Leonis that application of L. Niener be filed. Motion carried. An application for position as fireman by Wm. A. Krayer was read. A mo~ion was made by Leonis and seconded by Levy that application of Wm. A. Krayer be filed. Motion carried. A report of the State Board of Health regarding the extermination of rats was read. It was moved by Levy and seconded by Leonis that the report of the State Board of Health be filed. Motion carried. Ordinance No. 361; an ordinance granting to the Los Angeles Gas & Electric Company a franchise to operate a system of wires and conduits for the purposes of transmitting electric energy was read in full for a second reading. A motion was made bt Leonis and seconded by Levy that Ordinance No. 361, be passed for its second reading. Motion carried. . Resolution No. 372;a resolution of the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon declarmng the results of a special election for the annexation of the Vernon Ave., Territory was read, towit: Resolution No. 372 A resolution of the Board of Trustees of the City of vernon, California, declaring the results of a special election held on the 9th day of June 1925. Vfhereas, a special election was held in the territory designated by the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon as the "Vernon Avenue District" for the purpose of voting upon the following proposition: 283 Page 3- Minutes of the meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon, California June 16th 1925. Resolution No. 372 continued - Shall "The Vernon Avenue District" be annexed to the City of Vernon and after such annexation be subject to the taxation equally with theproperty within such municipal corporation to pay any and all bonded indebtedness of said municipal corporation, to gether with any indebtedness heretofore authorized to be represented by bonds thereafte to be issued, outstanding at the date of the publication of the Notice of Election. The total outstanding bonded indebtedness of the City of Vernon at the date of the first publication of the notice of election was $ 1,121,375.00., and Whereas, it appears that said election was held and conducted in accordance with the laws o~ the State of California; that the Board of Trustees give such notice of election, appoint a Board of Election and establish an election precinct, and polling place, and that said election was held and conducted and the votes cast therein were received and canvassed and returns tl1ereon made at the time, form and manner as required by law; and \v.hereas, the Board of Trustees did meet on this the 16th day of June, 1925, being its regular meeting next after the expiration of three days from and after the date date of said election, for the purpose of canvassing the votes vast at said special election, wherempon it was found that the votes cast at said election were as follows: Total number of said votes cast at said mm~mm~ election, 5 votes. Ordinance No. 360; an ordinance of the City of Vernon approving the annexation of the Slauson Avenue District was read for the first reading. A motion was made by Levy and seconded by teonis that Ordinance No. 360 be passed for the first reading. Motion carried. An application submitted by Frank Gautier and F.J.Gay for the operation of a sand pit in the City of Vernon was read. A motion was made by ~eon~s and seconded by Levy that the application of Frank Gautier and F.J.Gay be referred to the City Attorney and the City Engineer. Motion car~ied. The City Engineer recommended that all the bids submitted on June 9th, 1925 for the construction of the Northwest Sewer Diste~ct be rejected and readvertised. It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Levy th_t all bids submitted for the construction of the Northwest Sewer Distric~ on June 9th, 1925 be rejected and all bonds and checks be returned to the respective bidders, and that the bids be readvertisedfor and to be submitted on the first Tuesday in August 1925. Motion carrmed. Resolution No. 374; a resolution of the Board of Trustees deeding a certain 2 foot strip of property to the U.S.Steel Pr'oducts Co., was read. It was moved by Levy and seconded by Leonis that be adopted. Motion carried. Demands on the General Fund in the sum of ~~ 7,381.76 was read. Demands En the Water & Fire Alarm System No. 1 in the sum of $ 4,708.38 were read. emands on the Water System Fund No. 2 in the sum of $ 2,742.18 were read. The City Clerk was instructed to open bids submitted for the furnish- ing of the City of Vernon with Fire Hose. The Bid of the Pioneer Rubber Mills was opened and read.
