REGULAR MEETING.
A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Vernon, County of Los Angeles, and State of California, was held
on the 7th day of July , 19lE;5, at ~O 0' clock i~ M. of
said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said City
of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by
ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board to be held.
There were present at such meeting Trustees,
Durbin, Levy and Furlong
There were absent from such meeting Trustee,
Leonis, and on ac~ount of illness Kniffin.
President Trustee J.J.Furlong presiding.
The minutes of the meeting, held on
June 23rd, 26th and 27th 19125, were: read.
Moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that the minutes of the meeting
of these dates be approved as read. Motion carried.
Unfinished business
Application of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway for a spur track
franchise to cross Jaboneria Road was read.
Moved by Durbin and seconded Levy that the same be laid over. Motion carried.
Ordinance No. 357; an ordinance granting the Southern Pacific Company
a spur track franchise on Audrey Street was read.
Moved by Levy and seconded by Durbin that the same be laid over. Motion
carried.
Ordinance No. 359; an ordinance approving the annexation of Vernon Avenue
District was read in full for second reading.
Moved by Durbin and seconded by ~evy that Ordinance No. 359 be passed for
second reading. Motion carried. .,
Ordinance No. 359; was read for a third and final reading.
Moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that Ordinance No. 359 be adopted.
Motion carried.

second reading. Motion carried.
Ordinance No. 360; was read for a third and final reading.
Moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that Ordinance No. 360 be adopted.
Motion carried.
Ordinance No. 361; an ordinance granting the Los Angeles Gas & Electric
'Company a power line franchise was read in full for second reading.
Moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that the same be laid over.
Motion carried.
New business
Application for a pipe line franshise by the Unites Oil Company was read.
Moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that the same be referred to the City
Engineer and City Attorney for report. Motion carried.

APPLICATION NOS. 588-599-600-602; were read.
All having the approval of the City Engineer, it was moved by Durbin and
seconded by Levy that the applications be filed and permits granyed.
Motion carried.

Report of H.H.Isaacs on Foamite Systems in the City of Vernon was read.
Moved by Levy and seconded by Durbin that the same be filled. Motion carried.

Moved by Levy ahd seconded by Durbin that the same be filed. Motion carried.
Communication from the L.A. By-Produ~ts Company was read.
Moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that the same be filed. Motion carried.
Application of Mrs D.H.Westmoreland for position as matron in the new CiiW Jail
was read.
Moved by ~vy and seconded by Durbin that the same be filed. Motion carried.
Communication from the Bank of Italy regardin~ school savings accounts was read.
Moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that the same be referred to the School
Board. Motion carried.
Proposal of A.J.Bayer Company for bronze tablets
building was read.
Moved by Durbin and seconded by tevy that the same
King for investigation and report~ Motion carried.
At this tirne the Clerk reported that no protests were filed in regards to the
work mentioned in Resolution No. 371, and that the Board had Jurisdiction to
order the work done.
Moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that the report of the Clerk be accepted
and that the Board order the work done. Motion carried.
RESOLUTION NO. 377; ~ resoltuion ordering certain work to be done and improvement
to be made on ~anta e Avenue was read.
Moved by Levy and seconded by Durbin that Resolution No. 377 be adopted.
Motion carried.
RESOLUTION NO. 378; a resolution of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Vernon appointing Robert W. Hunt & Co., Engineers to inspect fire hydrants
at the plant where same is manufactured for the City of Vernon, was read.
Moved by Levy and seconded by Durbin that Resolution No. 378 be adopted.
Motion carried.

Demands on the General Fund in the sum of $7520.36 were read. Demands on the
Sewer Dist~ict Fund No. 1 in the sum of $7583.40 were read. Demands on the
Municipal Water System No. 1 in the sum Of $971.40 were read and demands on the
Water Syst~m No. 2 in the sum of $1420 was read.
Moved by Durbin and seconded by ~evy that all demands be allowed and the
City Treasurer be instructed to draw the various sums from the proper funds.
Motion carried.
Moved by Levy and seconded by Durbin that the meeting adjourn to July 14th
1924 at 10 O'clock A.,.
