19250818 Regular City Council Meeting - Minutes
REGULAR MEETING
A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Vernon, County of Los Angeles, and State of California, was held
on the 18th day of August ' 19 25' at ~'ClOCkAP. M. of
said day at the regular meeting place of said Board in said City
of Vernon, which said time and place is the time and place fixed by
ordinance for regular meetings of the said Board to be held.
There were present at such meeting Trustees,
Leonis, Durbin, Furlong and Levy
There were absent from such meeting Trustee,
I\niffin on account of illness
President Trustee
J.J.Furlong

The minutes of the previous meetings were laid over.
At this time Mr. Durbin reported that Mr. ~~iffin is ill and
requested that he be allowed six months leave of absence.
It was moved by Levy and seconded by ~eonis, that six months leave of
absence be granted to Mr. Kniffin. Motion carried.
The City Clerk was instructed to open bids submitted for the improvement
of Santa Fe Avenue. The following bids were opened and read:
Bid of the L.A.Paving Co.
Bid of the CUDtis Paving Co.
Bid of the Oswald Paving Co.
It was lnoved by Leonis and seconded by Durbin that the bids be referred
to the City Engineer for checking and report. Motion carried.
The City Clerk was instructed to open bids submitted for the furnishing
of the City Hall. The following bids were read.
Bid of the Pierce Desk Go.
Bid of the Rucker-Fuller Desk Co.
Bid of the Gunn Furniture~Co.
Bid of the Jamestown .ll.l.etal Pro. Co.
Bid of the Stationers-Corp.
Bid of the Pacific Desk Co.
Bid of the L.A.t>esk Co.
Bid of Barker Bros.
Bid of L.J.Gilbert.
Bid of the Hanson Desk Co.
A motion was made by Leonis and seconded by Levy that all bids for the
furniture be ~eferred to the City Engineer for checking amd report.
Motion carried.
Hemands on the General Fund in the sum of $2,017.93 were read.

Demands on the Sewer Dist No. 1 in th$ sum 778.75 were read
A motion was made by Leonis and seconded by Levy that the demands be allowed
and warrants dra~n upon the respective funds. Motion carried.
ORDINANCE NO. 365; an ordinance fixing the rate for taxes of the Gity of Vern
for the year 1925-26 was read. It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Leonis
that ordinance No. 365 be passed for first reading. Motion carried.
At this time the City Engineer reconnnended that the bid of Joe Ch1..1tuk
be accepted.
Moved by Durbin and seconded by Leonis that the recommendation of the
City Engineer be complied with. Motion carried.

At tilis time Mr. Durbin introduced Resolution No. 379.
Moved by Levy and seconded by Leonis that Resolution No. 379 be adopted.
Motion carried.
Moved by Leonis and seconded by Levy that this meeting adjourn until
August 19th, 1925 at 10 o'clock A.M. Motion carried.
