The meeting was called to order at 8 o'clock P.M. The Trustees present were: Messrs Leonis, Levy and Durbin. The Trustees absent were: Messrs Furlong and Kniffin. In the absence of the Chairman the meeting vms called to order by the City Clerk, who asked~nominations for Chairman pro-tem for the evening. Moved by Levy, seconded by Durbin, that Trustee Leonis act as Chairman pro-tern. Motion carried. At this time the City Clerk reported that bids for electric fixtures, as described in the notice inviting same were on his desk and ready to be opener]. Moved by Levy, secoded by Durbin, that bids for the furnishing to the City electrucal fixtures as described in the notice inviting bids for same be opened. Mot:Lon car:c'ied. Bids were then opened and read from Nort~n & Norton and the Standard Underground Cab~~ Cpmpany. The City Attorney repoarted that neither bid vms legal. Moved by Levy, seconded by Durbih that the date to receive bids be continued one week and the City Clerk be instructed to receive bids up to andLcluding October 5th 1925. IVlotion carried. RESOT;UTION NO. 386; a resolution abandoning work described in Resolution of Intention No. 385 was then introduced by Trustee Durbin. Moved by Levy and seconded by Du.rbin, that B.esolution No. 386 be adopted. Motion carried. Mr. Durbin then int'~duced Resolution of Intention No. 387, a resolution of intention No. 387 to construe a sewer in East 26th Street. Moved by Levy and seconded by Durbin that Resolution No. 387 be adopted, Motion carried. APPLICATION NO. 657; being an application of the Southern California Telephone Company for ~ermission to place approximately 52 feet of 3" creosoted duct on the ast side of Alameda Utreet, north of Slauson Avenue ',"las read. Moved by Levy and seconded by Durbin, that the application be filed and permit granted. Motion carried. APPLICATION NO. 356; being an application of the Southern California Telephone Company to place vitrified clay conduit across Alameda Street north of 37th Street was read. Moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that the application be filed and permit gran"\;ed. W[otion carried. APPLICATIONS NOS. 652, 653 and 655; for building permits were read. all having the approval of the City Engineer it was, Moved by Levy, seconded by Durbin that the applications be filed and permits be granted. Moved by Levy and econded by Durbin that the map of Tract 8470 be apprved. Motion carried. Co~~unication from the General Electric Company was read. Moved by Levy and seconded by Durbin that the comrcunication be filed. Motion carried. Connnunica tion from the Oi ty Clerk of Pasadena regarding public utili ties was read. Moved by Levy, seconded by Durbin, that COIT2rrunication be filed. Motion carried. Connnunication fro W.R. McClain of the Acme Rubbish Co., requesting a permit to haul rubbish out of the City of Vernon, \vas read. Moved by Levy and seconded 'by Durbin that the same be laid over for a peport'rom the Police Department. Motioh carried. Comrrmnication from A.C.Gehrman was read. Moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy that same be filed. Motion carried. Report of the State Board of Health was read. Moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that same be filed. T:/Iotion carried. Communication from the Fire Chief of the City 0 vernon was read. Moved by Levy, seconded by Dtlrbin, that same be filed, and the matters therein taken up separately. Motion carried. Moved by Levy, seconded by Durbin, that the matter of having posters on the te~ephone directory of the City of Vernon be referred to the Fire Chief with instructions to take up the ~atter with the Superintendent of the Southern California Telephone Company. Motion ca::'1'ied. Moyed by Durbin, seconded by Levy that the Fire Chief have all hose tested. Motion carried. At this time the City Engineer reported that Joe Ohutuk, the contractor was not prosecuting th8 work on the new sewer contract diligently and that thw time had expired for the completion of other ~ork contracted by him in the City. Moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy, that Joe Chut:'1\: the contr>~actor be instructed to appear before the Board of Trustees and show cause why the public work contracted by him was not carried out in accordance with his contract and further to show cause why the contract should not be declared null and void and the City compkete the vvork, and the City Attorney be instructed to draw sucb notice, having same signed by the Street Superintendent and served by the City Engineer. Motion carried. At this tilue Trustee Levy reported that "there were obnoxious odors coming from the packing houses in the City of Vernon and requesting that the Board do sornething in reference to same-; Moved by Levy, seconded by Du~bin, that a committee of two be appointed tlb investigatesarne and report back to the Board. Moved by Levy and seconded by Durbin, that Trustee Durbin communicate with Supervisor Cogswell in reference to construction of a certain brigge of the City of Vernon. Motion carried. Moved by Levy, seconded by Durbin that the matter of a mat or rug in fromt of the City Hall be referred to hilTlSelf, Mr. Durbin and the City Clerk for action. Motion carried. Moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that the City Clerk advertise for a worm drive Ford ~ruck. Motion carried. I'vfoved by Durbin, seconded by f.,evy that te City Clerk advertise for bids for the completcion of atl trenching in the City of Vernon Water Departement. Motion carried. Moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy that the City Engineer be empoYJered to buy for the water deparbaent one electric drill. one grinder and one bench drill stand as described in catalogue presented by Engineer McCurdy.
