The meeting was called to order by the President,
J. J. FURLONG, at 8 otclock P.M.
The trustees present were: Leonis, Durbin, Levy and
Furlong.
The trustees absent were: Mr. Kniffin.
The minutes of the meetings of December 7th and 1.4th
were read.
Moved by Leyy, seconded by Durbin, that the minutes be
approved as read. Motion carried.
At this time Mr. Leonis reported - as a cornmi ttre of
one - in reference to the De Turk property as to open fires on said
property, which is now supposed to be owned by the City of Los Angeles.
Moved by Leyy, seconded by Durbin, that this report be
referred to the City Attorney, Illotion carried.
Communication from the Board of Public Works regarding
the disposition of street sweepings of East 26th Street, known as
the DeTu.rk property was read.
Moved by Leonis, seconded by Levy, that smne be referred
to the City Attorney. Motion carried.
Partial report of H. H. Isaacs on the Foamite System
Vlas read.
Moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that sarne be
filed. Motion carried.

APPLICATIQJ'T KO. 717.~ for a building permit by E. J. stanton Lumber
Co. was read. SallIe having the approval of the City Engineer it was,

be filed and permit granted. llotion carried.
APJ?LICATION NO. 718: Application for an excavation permit fram the
Southern California Gas Con~any for service at 2408 East 57th Street
was read. Same having the approval of the City Engineer, it was
Moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that the application
be filed and permit granted. Motion carried.
At this time a representative of the ;!Western Roek ec
Sand Company petitioned the Board for permission to excavate in the
old deTurk property, they claiming that the City of Los Angeles
would be responsible for the refilling of the pit.
Hoved by Leonis. seconded by Durbin, that the request
be referred to the City Attorney for report. Motion carried.

At this time the City Clerk stated that this was the
time and place set forth in the Resolution of Intention to hear
protests regarding the improvement on East 49th street, but stating
that he ha.d received no protests in writing or otherwise. At this
time the Chairman of the Board of 'Trustees asked if there was anyone
in the audience \"lho had any protest or obj ections to make on the
improvement of East 49th Street. Hearing no response Trustee Durbin
introdueed Resolution 414~ a resolution ordering the work to be done
on said East 49th Street.

414 be adopted. Motion carried.
At this time a representative of the Santa Fe Railroad
was present together with Mr. Dayton of the Boyle-Dayton Company
and a question of a franchise of the Santa Fe Railway Company to enter
the Boyle-Dayton property was disc'ussed at length.

It was moved by Le~J, seconded by Durbin, that the
matter of a. franchise to serve Boyle-Dayton Company be referred ba.ck
"to 1111'. Dayton and the Santa Fe Railwa.y Officia.ls, same to be resubmitted
to the Board. Motion carried.

the hea.lth officers of the Ci tv of Vernon be fixed at :~75. 00 beginning
January 1st, 1926. v v
Moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that the officers
in charge of the various departments submit a report for the year
1925 to the Board. The departments to submit a report for the year 1925
shall consist of Fire \Varden, Police Department, Fire Departnlent~ City
Clerk's department ~ street Superintendent's department and City '!later
Department ~ and all officers Ii/ere requested to make reconunendati ons fo r
the incoming year. Motion carried.
