The meeting was called to order by the President
J. J. FURLOHG, a.t 8 o'clock P.U.
The trustees present were: Leonis, Durbin, Levy and
Furlong.
The trustees absent Viere: Mr. Kniffin.
At this time the City Clerk reported that he had
received a number of sealed bids fo~ "tt;he improvement of Ea.st
49th Stree't, which v:cre nOVI on his desk.
lv!oved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin,. that the City
Clerk proceed to open the bids. Motion carried.
Bids Vlere received from Oswald Bros., Griffith Co.,
and Curtis Paving Co. and L. A. Paving Co. The City Clerk at
this time checked all the 1)ids and renorted that the L. A.
Paving Co. J was the lowest bidder. ~

rej ected except the bid of the L. A. Paving Co., and tbllt they
be a.warded the contract. liotion carried.
At this time TrllStee Durbin introduced resolution
415, a resolution awarding the contract for the improvement of
East 49th street to the L. A. Paving Co.
Moved by Leonis, seconded by Levy, that said reso-
lution be adopted. ~lotion carried.

COlll.rnunica.tion from the Meat Packers located in the City
of Vernon regarding driving cattle through the streets of Vernon
was read.
I,loved by Levy, seconded by Durbin, that the City Clerk
be instructed to write to the Meat Packers' Association tha.t they
submit routes for the driving of cattle to the trustees for their
approval. Motion carried.

ing the location of a casing house in the City of Vernon was read.

read. Upon the recommendation of the City Engineer that no
extension of time be given" it was

straightening 26th Street and Boyle Avenue be referred to the
City Engineer. Motion carried.

purposes from ;T. B. Leonis, Inc., a California corporation, of the
City of Vernon, was read.

be adopted. Motion carried.
Communication from the Whiting-Mead Co. was read,
Moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that same be
referred to the fire chief. Motion carried.
Moved by Leonis, seconded by Levy, tllat proceedings
1,e' taken for the widening of Slauson Avenue at ]!agnolia Avenue
also the opening and improving same,. also the drainage on Randolph
Street, work to begin at once. IJfotion carried..
Moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that the City
Engineer be appointed a cmmnittee of one to take up the matter
of drainage for the packing houses with the County Officials.
Motion carried.
ORDINANCE NO. 370: An ordinance granting a franchise for spur
track for the Boyle-Dayton Co. was read. in full for second
reading.
Moved by Leonis. seconded by Durbin, that Ordinance
No. 370 be passed for second reading. Motion carried.
ORDINANCE NO. 371: An ordinance granting a franchise of the
Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway Co. to serve Boyle-Dayton
Co. was read in full for first reading.
Moved by J:.evy. seconded by Durbin, that same be passed
for first reading. Motion carried.
RESOLUTION NO. 416: A resolution of the Board of Trustees adopt-
ing plans and specifications for the improvement of Leonis Blvd. ,
was read.
