VEP1WN, CALIFORNIA. The meeting was called to order by the President, J. J. FUrlong, at eight o'clock P.M. Furlong. The trustees present were: Leonis, Durbin, Levy and The trustees absent were: Mr. Kniffin. Moved by Levy, seconded by Durbin, that the minutes of the previous meeting be laid over. Motion caxried. Application by M. C. Walker for a permit to operate a lunch stand on the 0 'Donnel property on Downey Road between East 25th and East 26th Streets was read. Moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that same be referred to.the Police Department for investigation and report. Motion carried. RePort of the State Board of Health was read. Moved by Levy, seconded by Durbin, that the report be filed. Moti~n carried. was read. Report of H. H. Isaacs, Inspector of Oil.Ref~:neries Moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, tha.t same be filed. Motion carried. Communication from :M. R. Gabbert regarding the painting of water tanks and towers was read. Moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that the communicat ion be filed. l[ot ion carried. Cormnunication from the Mclaughlin Glass Company requesting a. wa.ter connection to their fire line was read. Moved by Levy, seconded by Leonis, that the communication be filed. and the City Clerk instructed to request said company to make their application upon' the blanks furnished by the City. 1lot i on carr ied. ORDnTAlifCE NO. ~80: An ordinance fixing the water ra.tes to be charged by the City of Vernon to the c;omsumer was read for first reading. }\[oved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin. that Ordinance rio. 380 be passed for first reading. Motion carried. Application of Fred Hurley for position as book- keeper for the City was read. Moved by Levy, seconded by Durbin, that the applica- tion be filed and that Fred Hu~y be given the position as book- keeper, beginning April 13,. 1926 until further order of the. Boa.rd, and that said Fred Hurley file a bond in the sum of $10,000.00 and that his li:llary be $150.00 per month. Motion carried. .. 47 Application of Orville Carl Dailing for position in the Fire Department was read. l~oved by Levy. seconded by Durbin~ that the applica- tion be referred to the fire commission with power to appoin.t said applicant if such appointment meets with the approval of the commission. APPLICATION NO. 837: An application of Bavin & Burch Company for the reconstruction of steel sash was read. APPLICATIon no. 8~: An application of Warman Electric Foundry Company for-building permit for the erection of an office build- ing was read. APPLICATION NO. 840: An application of Oil Well Equipment Company for the construction of a warehouse wa.s read. APPLICATION NO. 841: An a.pplication of Southern Calif ornia Tele- phone Company to place one manhol.e on west side of Santa Fe Avenue between Vernon and 49th Streets to serve Percival Iron Works was read. Moved by Leonis. secoaded by Durbin. that the fo ra- going applications be filed and permits granted. Motian carried. The following demands were made: On Water Bond Fund Uo. 2 the sum of $29.50; On Fire Alarm Fund the sum of $29,648.03 and on the General Fund the surn of $1725.90. lroved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that the demands be allowed and vmrrants drawn.
