AT THE Crry HALL. 4305 Sante Fe Avenue, Vernon, California.. . The meeting WaS called to order by the President, :J. J'. Furlong.. at eight 0' clock P.];I. The trustees present were: Furlong, Durbin, Leonis and Levy. The trustees absent "'fere: LJ!:r. Kniffin.. The minutes of the meetings of :May 3 and tray 17 were read. It vvas moved by Levy and seconded by Durbin that the minutes of J:v.i.t :3 and :JU{;1 17 be approved as read. The motion carried.. The City Clerk then announced that this was the time set for the confirmation and au-oroval of the assessment for the improvement of East 26th Street.. It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Durbin that the matter of the confirm- ation of the a.sseSSIr1ent of East 26:t;h Street be laid over until. the next regular meeting.. The motion carried. The City Engineer at this time made his report on the gasoline bids for the city. It v:!'as moved by Levy and sec onded by Durbin that the report be l.aid upon the table. The motion carried. At this time the City Engineer reported on the matter of the bids for the fire pump and recommended that the contract for the fire pillap and the motor be awarded to the Spr~do Engin- eering Company. It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that the report of the City Engineer be accepted and that all bids b~ rejected on the furnishing to the city with the fire pump and motor except the bid of the Sprado Engineering Company, and that they be. awarded the contract.. \A The motion carried.. At this time the City Enginee:r- recommended that all bids be rejected on the furnishing to the city of well pumps~ anCl. that the City Clerk be instructed to re-advert ise for sarne. It Vias moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that all. bids be rej ected for the furnishing to the city of YJ'ell gilll1pS, and that the City Clerk be instructed to re-advertise for same. The motion carried.. New Business: . Application for extension of sixty days time for the completion of Holabird Avenue by the Griffith Company was rea.d.. It was moved by Levy and seconded by Durbin that an extension of sb.:ty days addi tiona.1 time be granted the Griffith Compa.ny for the completion of the improvement of Holabird Avenue.. The motion carried.. r-~ Cj;~ JUh21 '38 Application for a pipe line franchise by the Crescent' Refining Company VIaS read... It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Durbin that same be laid over until a copy of the franchise should be sub- mitted to the board. The motion carried. At this time the City ClerIc presented to the board a quitclaim deed from the Union Packing Company to a portion of their property for street purposes. It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that Re- solution No. 450. a. resolution accepting said quitclaim deed. be adopted. The motion carried. An application by 1[rs... B. A. Fmv1er for a license to sell plate'lunches on the property of the Patent Davies Lumber Company was read. It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Leonis that the same be referred to the Police Department. The motion carried. Application was rncl.de by Frank Vescos for a position as assistant bookkeeper.. It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Levy that the sanIe be filed. The motion carried. The report of the State Board of Health wa.s read. It was moved by Levy and seconded by Durbin that the same be filed. The Motion carried. The report of the Police Department wa.s read. It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Durbin that the same be filed. 1!otion ca.rried... A request of the L. A. Paving Company for an e:xten- sion of time of si:::cty days for the completion of work on Forty- ninth street was read. It wa.s moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that the request of the L. A. Paving Company for an extension of time be granted. Motion carried. A communication from E. B. Fish stating tlmt he would drill test holes for bridge foundation on Boyle Avenue and the Los Angeles River was ;rea.d. It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Leonis that the cornmunication be filed and that the City Clerk be instructed to advertise for bids for the drilling of test holes for a bridge foundation on Boyle Avenue and Los Angeles River. Motion carried. At this time the City Attorney reported that the bond submitted by the Atlas Mixed Mortar Company as a substitute for the bond nOVl. on file was not proper as to form and reoommended that the same be filed. It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Levy that the recormaendation of the City Attorney be complied with. Motion carried.. -2- S8 JUr. 2 j '86 At this time Mr. G. M. Brown addressed the board in reference to open fires upon his property in the city. It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Durbin that the matter be referred to the Fire Department. Motion carried. ORDIN~iCE OF INTENTION NO. 383: An ordinance for the opening, widening and extending of Slauson and umgnolia Avenues was read for second reading. It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Durbin tha.t Ordinance No. 383 be passed for second reading. Motion carried. ORDINAllfCE Ho. 383: Ordinance 1\1'0. 383 vms read for third and fina~ reading..
