The meeting was called. to ord.er by the President,

Trustees present were: Leonis, Durbin, Levy and
Furlong.

The minutes of the meeting of November I, 1926 were
It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Durbin that the
minutes be approved a.s corrected. Motion c"arried.
At this time the City Clerk stated that he had bids
upon his desk for the improvement of Slauson Avenue.

It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy tha.t the
Ci ty Clerk be instructed to open the bids. Motion carried.
The City Clerk at this time read the bids for the im-
provement of Slauson Avenue from the following firms: Griffith
Compa.ny. Oswald Company and George R. Curtis Company.
It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Durbin that
the same be referred to the City Engineer for checking and report.
Motion carried.
ORDINANCE NO. 391:: An Ordinance for the closing up of a portion
of Indiana Street was read for first reading.
It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Levy that Ordinan<ll
No. 391 be passed for first reading. Motion carried.
An application of the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Rail-
way Company for a. franchise to construct two drill tracks across
49th Street and one drill track across Chambers Street was r~d.
It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Le~y that the same
be filed. Motion carried.
ORDINANCE NO. 392:- An Ordinance grant ing the Atchison, Topeka. &
Santa Fe Railway Company a permit to construct, maintain and
ope.rate a. passing track across a. portion of A.tlantic Avenue was
read for first reading.
It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Durbin that
Ordinance No. 392, be passed for first rea.ding. Motion carried.
At this time the Board having been advised that the
minutes of September 7, 1926. fail to show the record of the
hearing in the matter of the confirmation of the Street Superin-
tendent"s assessment for the northwest Sewer District, as per
Resolution of Intention No. 357, and the Board being satisfied
that said hear ing 'llas called in the regular manner and hav ing
been regularly continued,
It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy and carried
limamimously that the minutes of the meeting of SeptembeJr' 7, 1926,
be corrected by adding thereto the following:

~he Clerk reported that this was the time and
place for the hearing in the matter of the Northwest
Sewer District Assessment, as per Resolution of Inten-
tion No. 357. and also reported that no written
appeals had been filed, the Board deemed it advisable
tha.t the confirmation of the assessment be laid over.

Trustee Durbin, and cax'ried, that the hearing be con-
tinued until 8 o"clock P. M. of September 20, 192:6....

The City Clerk at this time advised the Board tha.t this
was the time and place fixed pursuant to Statute a.nd notice given
for the hearing in the matter of the a.ssessment for the improvement
of Alameda. Street, and other streets (Northwest Sewer District)
a.s contemplated by Resolution of Intention No. 351, adopte.d on
the 28th day of April. 1925. The Clerk also informed the Board 1
that affidavit of the posting of the Notice of filing assessment ~
Was on file in his office and that no written appeals or objections
had been filed in his office prior to the day set for the hearing
or otherwise. The President of the Board ask if there were any
interested persons present desiring to be heard in the matter and
no one responding, and all interested persons having been given
full opportunity to show cause why the said assessment should not
b e confirmed. all obj ect ions presented hav ing been heard and fully
considered, and the Board having been satisfied with the correct-
ness of the assessment.
Thereupon Trustee Leonis moved that said assessment be
confirmed and approved, which motion, seconded by Trustee Durbin
was carried by the following note:

A communication from G.Weyer :requesting a transfer of
his restaurant license from 2100 East Vernon Avenue -(Q 44Q6 Santa.
Fe Avenue was read.
It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that the
communication be filed and that Weyer be instructed to file a
new application. Motion carried.
An application of M. Henriques to operate an automobi1e
pa.rk at 2.3.35 East 38th Street was read.
It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that the same

An application by john Oganesoff for permission to burn
papers accumulated by the General Petroleum Corporat ion on his
property located on East Vernon Avenue near Boyle AVienue was read.
It wa.s moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that the
application be taken under advisement. Motion carried.

af the applicatio.n af the Las Angeles :Junction Railway Campany
for permission to construct the railroad across certain public
streets, railway tracks and street railway tracks, and in the
matter af the applicatian of the Las Angeles Junction Railway
Campany far permission to construct its railraad across Fruitland
Ave nue, a public street, was read..
It was moved by Levy and secanded by Durbin that the
same be filed. Matian carried.
A communication from the Atlas Scraper Company quo.ting
prices on scrapers wa.s read.
It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Leonie that the
same be filed. Mo.tion carried.
A cammunication from Allen Bro.thers annauncing their
engineering department was read.
It was moved by Leonis and secanded by Levy that the same
be filed. Motian carried.
An applicatian by J". G.Parr for permissio.n to. operate
a lunch and soft drink stand a,t 2300 East 52nd Street was read..
It was moved by Leo.nis and seconded by Levy that the
same be r efarr-ed to. the Palice Department. Motion carried.
Ii.. communicatio.n from C. A. Williamson requesting a thirty
day extension. of time far the moving af their plant fram Slauson
and Alameda Streets WaS read.
It was moved by Leanis and seconded by Durbin that the
same be granted. Motio.n carried.
It was moved by Leonis and secanded by Durbin that the
City Engineer be instructed to sugmit estimate af cost for the
oiling and grading of Bayle Avenue sauth of Vernon Avenue. Motion
carried.
JlESOLUTION NO. 469: A-Resoltuion to the effect that all water and
street department employees report ane-half day, twice a month
to the Fire Chief for training in fire fighting, and be subject
to. call by the fire department day or night was read.
It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Durbin that
Resalution No. 4.69 be adopted. Motion carried.
It was maved by Leonis and secanded by Durbin that all
building applica.tian hereafter have a blue print of the structure
attached to the permit, together with a map af the graund wherean
same is to. be located, shawing the location of the structure
an the property. Motion carried.

It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Durbin that the
City Clerk notify the Southern California Utilities Company to
have a representa.ti ve present at the next meeting on Monday,
November 22, 1926, regarding their a.pplication for a, permit to
cross Santa Fe Avenue with a water line. Motion carried.
At this time the City Engineer recommended that all
bids received and opened this date for the improvement of Slauson
Avenue be rejected, owing to the fact that the price quoted was
too high.
It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Leonis that the
recommendation of the City Engineer be complied with and that all
bids be rejected and checks returned, and that notice calling for
bids be readvertised. Motion carried.
At this time the following applications all having the
written approval of the City Engineer were read::

APPLICATION No. 996: By Southem California Gas Company for exca.-

construct a service station a.t 49th and Pacific Blvd. Approximate
