The meeting was called to order by the President,

The minutes of the meetings of November 15, 2.2 and 2:9
were read...
It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that the
minutes be approved as read. Motion carried.
A communication from the Engineering Department of the
City of Los Angeles requesting the City of Vernon to have the
citizens of tha.t city comply with the Ordinance regarding sewage
disposal. was read.
It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Durbin that the
City Clerk notify the Engineering Department of the City of Los
Angeles that the matter had been refered to the City Attorney far
action. Motion carr-ied..
A communication from the Gilmore Oil Company stating
that they do not discharge into the sewers any materials that
would cause the condition complained of by the City of Los Angeles
was read.
It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Levy that the
communication be filed. Motion carried.
A, communication from the California. Rendering Company
requesting permission to locate a steam boiler on the rear end
of their property, which property projects into theCi ty of Vernon
fr:01Jl East 25th St refet was read.

It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Durbin that the
communication be laid over for a sta.tement from the California
Rendering Company that they would immediately remove the boiler
in the event that their plant became a nuisance in the opinion
of the Board of Trustees. Motion carried.
An application from Cannon and Kieffer Inc. for per-
mission to operate a used car lot on the northeast corner of
Santa Fe Avenue and Pacific ~oulevard was read.
It was moved by Levy and seconded by Durbin that the
communieation be filed a.nd the request granted.. Motion carried.
A ciruular letter from the Chamber of Commerce of
the City of Compton regarding the San Gabriel River Dam was
read.
It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Levy that the
communiCation be laid over until the next meeting. Motion
carried.

A. communication from the At1.as Mortar Company
requesting the cancellation or reduction of the Sixty Thousand
Dolla..r ($60,000.00) bond for the refilling of the excavat ion
formerly used by them as a sand pit was read..
It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Levy that the
same be referred to the City Engineer for report. Motion
carried.
A connnunication from the Department of Water and Power
of the City of Los Angeles requesting permission to make an
extension of its six inch water main along East 25th Street to
serve the Metals Refining Company a.nd the Sootts-Union Sawdust
Company on East 25th Street was read.
It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Durbin that the
connnunication be laid over until the next regular meeting.

Maps of Tract No. 9146 and Tract No. 8030 were presented
to the Board for approval~
Both maps haVing the approval of the City Engineer, it
was moved by Leonis and seconded by Durbin that'"lrIa.ps of Tract
No. 9146 and Tract No. 8030 be approved. Motion carried.
It Vilas moved by Leonis and seconded by Durbin that the
City Attorney be instructed to notify the Southern California
Utilities Company to lower or remove their water lines in the
alley betiveen East 37th and East 38th Streets within fifteen
days. Motion carried.
The reports of H. H. Isaacs on the Foamite plants of the
Hercules Gasoli.ne Company, the Wilshire Oil Company, and the
Marine Oil Refining Company were read..'
It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Levy that the
repol~ts of H. H. Isaacs., Foamite Inspector, be filed. Motion
c:a.rried.
The report of the Police Department was read.
It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Levy that the
same be filed. Motion carried.

of the City Engineer, were read...
~APPLICATIOli No. 1035: By .John M. Cooper Company, for building
permit for the construction of building for Geo. E. Martin on
East 38th Street. Approximate cost $15,000.00.
APPLICATION No. 1Q36: By Wm. Fletcher Company for the construction
of office building at 3275 East Slauson Av'e. Approximate cost
$7000.00
APPLICATION No. lO4Q.L By Safeway Stores Inc; for building permit
for the construction of a storage platform warehouse. Approximate
cost $4300.00.

APPLICATION No. 1.043: By Chas. G. Willis for permission to connect
to sewer on :mast 25th Street.
APPLICATION No. 1.044: By J"ohnston Pump Company for permission to
connect to sewer on East 49th Street.
APPLICATION No. 1045: By Southern California Gas Company for per-
mission to make gas connection at 5980 Boyle Avenue.
APPLICATION No. 1046: By Southern California Gas Company for
permission to make ga.s connection at 3353 E. Slauson Avenue.

mission to make gas connection at 2657 Fruitland Road.
APPLICATION No. 1.048: By Southern California Gas Company for per-
mission to make excavation at 2901 Sahta Fe Avenue for gas connect~
ion.
APPLICATION No. 1049: By Whiting Mead Company for permission to
bury gasoline tank in their property located at 2035 Ea.st Vernon
Avenue.
APPLICATION No. 1.0-iO: By Southern California Telephone Company
for permission to plaoe one thirty toot pole and anchor, and
thirty foot two-way vitrified clay conduit at northwest corner
of Slauson Avenue and Downey Road.
It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that the
applications be fiihed and permits granted. Motion carried.
APPLICATION No. 1037: By City of Los Angeles for building permit
t.o construct Refuse Incinerator on East 25th. Street. Approximate
eost $400,000.00. wa.s read.
It was moved by Leonie and seconded by Durbin that the
application be filed and permit granted, subject to the payment of
Four Hundred Dollars ($400.00} for permit fee. Motion carried.
APPLICATION No.. 1038: By Littlejohn Rueland Corporation for a
building permit for the construction of a sign on the building
occupied by them, at the approximate cost of $125.00, was read.
It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Durbin that the
application be filed and permit granted, subject to be revolked
at such a. time a.t the request of the Board. 1!otion ca.rried.
Demands on the General Fund in the sum of Ten Thousand
Four Hundred Twenty-tl~ee and 80/100 Dollars ($10,42~.80} were
read.
Demands on the Trust Fund in the sum of One Hundred
Thirty-se.ven Dollars were read..
