The meeting was called to order by the President, J. j.
FL1rlong~ at 8 o'clock P. M.
The Trustees pre.sent were: Leonis, Durbin, Levy and
Furlong.
The Trustee absent was: Kniffin.
At this time the City Clerk announced that he had on
h~S desk bids for the installation for sewers in the City
of Vernon.
It was moved by Le onis and see anded by Levy that the
Ci ty Clerk open the bids. l!otion carried.
The City Clerk then opened the bids for the follo\',ing
firms~ Thos. Haverty Co., Leo Unksick, John Brkich and John
Herzeg.
At this time the bids were checked by the City Engineer,
who reported that John Brkich and John Herz.eg Vlere the
lowest bidders, cmd recommended that they be e,vlarded the
contract.
It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Leonie that all
c.la.S be rejected, except the bid of John Brkich and John
Herzeg, and that they be &vrarded the contract, and that the
City Clerk be instructed to return all checks to the unsuccess-
ful bidders. J~iotion carried.
A cornrnunication from the State Board of Health regard-
ing the overtaxed sewers in the City of Vernon was read.
It was moved by Levy and seconded by Durbin that the
communication be filed, and a comrnitte consisting of Trustee
Leonis, City Engineer McCurdy, and the Health Officer of the
City be requested to attend the meeting of the state Board
of Health as outlined in said conmlunication. Motion
carried.
An appli.cation of Tom Anguilo et al for permission to
L'lanufacture fert ilizer at 3103 East Vernon Avenue VIas agai:n
submitted to the board, having been before denied, was read.
It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Levy that the
/ same be denied. 1tlotion carried..
The report of H. H. Isa.acs on the appli.cation of Simon
R. lfurshall for a permit to operate the Empire Oil & Supply
Company at 2418 East 30th street was read.
It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that the
same be filed. Motion carriedt

of the City Engineer, were read.

pany for permission to install gas service at 2001 East
52nd Street.

It Vias moved by Leonis and seconded by Levy that the
applications be filed and permits granted. IILotion carried.
APPLICATION No. I~JP: Of V. C. Benjronin for building permit
for the construction of oil reclaiming plarit to be located
at 3463 East 26th street, Approximate cost :ij)432.00, VlaS read.
It was moved by Leonis and see onded by Levy that said
application be referred to the foamite inspector, i[o:. Isaac.
Uotion carried.
An application from the Economy I,rotor Company to install
a 200 gallon tank for distillate, for use in testing meters
on gasoline pumps was read.
It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Levy that the
sarne be grant ed. :Moti on carried.
It was moved by Le onis and seconded by Levy that the
Ci ty Engineer and City Att orney take steps to irnmediately
improve the alley betv:Teen 37th and 38th Streets. llotion
carried.
