The meeting was called to order by the President..

The Trustees present were::
Durbin~ Levy and Furlong.
The Trustees absent were:
Leonis and Kniffin.
It \vas moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that the
minutes of the meeting of .Tune 20th, 1927, be laid over until
the ne:ct regular meet ing. Motion carried.
it,. communicat ion f rom the County of Los Angeles Roads
Department, with revised district map, relative to the improvement
of Slauson Avenue was read.
It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that the same
be referred to the City Engineer. Motion carried.
An application for a permit and license by the Jloreton
Products Company to manufacture rubber and other things at 5501
S. Boyle Avenue was read:.
It was moved by Levy and seconded by Durbin that the
application be referred to the Fire Chief for report. Motion
carried.
An a.pplication for a permit to operate a restaurant at
3207 East Vernon Avenue by ]fU's. J. L. Clay VlaS read...
It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that the
application be referred to the Police Department. 1tTotion carried.
it,. communication from the Los Angeles Paving Company,
requesting a sixty days extensi on of time for the improvement of
Alameda Street was read.
It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that a
thirty day extension of time be granted to the Los Angeles Paving
Company. Mot i on carried.
An application by the Pacific Heady Cut Homes, Inc. for
a permit to haul in their own trucks rubbish and trash from their
plant through the City of Vernon to the dumping ground at Florence
was read.
It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that the
permi t be granted. Motion carried.
A communication from the State Board of Health, in
regard to' sewers was read.
It Vias moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that the
cOr1ll11unication be laid over until a meeting of the full board.
Motion carried.

license to store and repair trucks at 2335 East 38th street
was read..
It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that the
permi t be grant ed. Mot ion carr-ied..
An applica.tion by the Los Angeles By-Products Company
for a permit to bail metals on the site across from the Los
Angeles Incinerator was read..
It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that the
application be laid over until a meeting of the full board.

A connnunication from the Arcadia Bandini Baker Estate
requesting the change of the name of Holabird Avenue to Ylashing-
ton Boulevard was read.
It was moved by Levy and seconded by Durbin that the
matter be referred to the City Attorney and City Engineer. 'Motion
carried...
A connnunicat ion from the Southern Pacific Company re-
garding the opening of East 49th Street across Alameda Street
was read..
It was moved by Levy and seconded by Durbin that the
cOmDlunication be laid over until a meeting of the full board.

It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that the
approval of the map for Tract No. 9937 be laid over until the
next regular meeting. J:w!otion carried..
A cornmunication from Haskins & Sells. regarding the annual
audit was read.
It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that Haskins
& Sells be appointed to make the annual audit. Mot.ion carried.
At this time the City Clerk announced that he had on
~us desk a bid submitted by the Jones Thorne Company for the
furnish.ing of twelve fire hydrants to the City of Vernon.
It was moved by Levy and seconded by' Durbin that the
bid be referred to the City Engineer for checking and report.

It wa.s moved by Levy and seconded by Durbin that the
Police Department be instructed to investigate the Brown-Leithold
Company to see if they are operating a paint plant at 3010 East
26th Street. Motion carried.
APPLICATION No. 1219:: By the Globe Packing Company for a permit
to demolish and reconstruct a pacldng house (Class B) at 3207 E.
Vernon Avenue. Approximate cost $35,000.00. The City Engineer
recomr.aended tha.t a. permit be granted for the domolishing of the
old building,. but that the permit for the reconst11uction of the
new building be refused a.s no plans have as yet been filed,.

It was moved 'by Durbin and seconded by Levy that the
recommendation of the City Engineer be concurred in, and that a
permit be granted for the demolishing of the old building.

APPLICATION NO. l221: By the Southern California Gas Company for
a permit to install gas service at 5212-14 Santa Fe Avenue. The
City Engineer recommended that this connection should be made in
the alley east of Santa Fe Avenue,
It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that the
permit be granted, subject to the recommendation of the City
Engineer that the connect ion be mrLde in the alley east of Santa
Fe Avenue. Motion carried.
APPLICATION No. 1229: By the Los Angeles By-Products Company for
a building permit for the construction of a drop hammer bailer
on the site across from the Los Angeles Incinerator, approximate
cost ~3,,000.00. was read. ,
It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that the
application be laid over until a meeting of the full board.

permit for storage silo at 55th and Alameda Street. Approximate
cost $1500.00.
APPLICATION No. 1218: By Growers Cold Storage Company for a build-
ing permit for the construction of a cooling tovler at 5050 S.

permit to repair collar leak in existing oil line at 57th and

across the Los lmgeles River on Soto Street, as submitted by the
City Engineer, be adopted and that the City Clerk be instructed
to advertise for bids for the construction of said bridge, said
