It was moved by Levy a.nd seconded by Leonis that. the
minutea of the meeting of October 3rd be laid over until the
next regular meeting. Motion carried.
Ai; this time the City Clerk informed the Board that
this was the time and place set for the hearing of protests for
the improvement of Topeka. Avenue" and that he had received no
protests, either written or oral; .. Ma.yor Yttr10ng then asked
if there was anyone in the audience who had a.ny ob,j ection to
the improvement of Topeka. Avenue, as set forth in Res OllJt j on of
intention number 495,. and no one obj ecting, Councilmen Li/vy entered
ll'esolution number 496 as a Resolution ordering the work dOfie
for the improvement of Topeka Aven'!1e,' a.s set forth in Resolution
of Intention number 495, and moved the a.doption of the Resolution.

City Engineer and Attorney take the necessary steps to' re-z.one
the City of Vernon, so that all imustries "f.fla.Y be placed in the

appaint a committee of three members to' be known as an advertising
comrnittee, whose duty it shall be to divise a way and means to
properly and thoraughly admertise the City of Vernon., and that
the City Attorney :ahaIl act on this cammittee. Motion carried.

tlity Attorney draft an Ordinance requiring all restaurants to
deposit a bond of 11.000.00, with their application~ and that
8011 Lunch Counters deposit a bond of 1500.00 with their &ppli-
e:ation for a license to conduct each business. and so draft same
that the band and the license shall be renewed e~ch year. Motion

The resignation o.f Dr. Williams, health officer of the
City oI" Vernon. was read..

resignation be received with regret.. and that the C'ity Attorney
be instructed to conmunic:ate with Dr. Williams, inf'o.rming him
that the Board deeply aPIJreciates the services rendered to the
City,.. and regret exceedingly that he is retiring. Motion carried.
It was moved by Leonis and secon.ded by Levy that R. B.
Becker be appointed Irealth Officer, of the City o.f Vernon" to ta.1:e
offfee at once. upo.n the same salary as the previous Health Of-
ficer. said salary to da.te from October 15th. 1.927. Motion car-
ried.
It was moved by Leonis and seco.nded by Levy that the.
City of Vernon advance to the City of Los Angeles, the sum o.f
$25..000.00 fo.r the remova.l of the sewer bridge on Soto Street"
sa.id 125.000.00 to be deducted from the amount that will be due
the City of Los A.ngeles for the connection to the Los Angeles
sewer. The City Attorney preparing the contract in acco.rdance
with thi.s motio.n. Motion carried.
