The meeting was called to order by the Mayor, j. .T.
Kniffin.
The Councilmen present were: Levy, Furlong, Leonis and
The Councilman absent was: Durbin.
The minutes of the meetings of October 3rd and October
17th, were read.
It was moved by Levy and seconded by Kniffin, that the
minutes of October 3rd and October 17th be approved as read.
Motion carried.
The report of the Police Department an the application
of the Union Tank & Pipe Company, wa.s read.
It was moved by Kniffin and seconded by Levy that the
report be taken under advisement. liIotion carried.
The report of the Police Department an the application
of .T. C. Brown for a.. restaurant license was to the effect that
there was no building upon the property on which the application
was made" and therefore no report could be made by them.
It was moved by Kniffin a.nd seconded by Levy that the
Clerk be instructed to notify the applicant that no permit ca.n
be issued until a building is built that will comply with the
Health Ordinance. MOtion carried.
At this time the City Attorney presented
ORDINA1\fCE NO. 407: An ordinance creating the office to be known
as the Vernon Industrial Co:rmnissio1:1, same having been read before
the Council.
It was moved by Kniffin and seconded by Leonis that
Ordinance No. 407 be passed for first reading. Motion carried.
APPLICATIOJ:LI'!Q,_~: By R. R. Heydt for a. garage, was read.
It was moved by Levy and seconded by Kniffin that same
be filed. Motion carried.
The following applications, all having the approval of
the City Engineer, were read:
APPLICATION NO. 1315: From the Central lfu..nufacturing District,
Incorporated, for an addition to their club building, at a cost

APPLICATION EO. 1316: By Los Angeles Rubbir & Abstract Works for
a factory and warehouse, approximate cost ~37,500.
APPLIqA:TION NO.~ 13g: By California Petroleum Corporation for a
permit to construct a super service station at District Blvd. and
Federal. approximate cost ;~6000.00.

to place one 35 foot po~e on the east side of Pacific Blvd.,

It was moved by Kniffin and seconded by L~vy that the
applications be filed and permits granted. Motion carried.
It was moved by Leouis and seconded by Kniffin that
the meeting adjourn.
