The meeting was called to order by the Mayor, ;r. J".
Furlong.
The Councilmen present were: Durbin, Levy. Fu.rlong and
Leonis.
The Councilman absent was:
Kniffin.
It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that the
reading of the minutes af the meetings of November 7th and November
10th be laid over \lntil the next regular meeting. Motion carried.
At this time the City Engineer. Howard McCUrdy" reported
on the bids for the improvement of Topeka. Avenue. He reported
that the George R. Curtis Company was the lowest responsible bidder,
and recommended that the contract be awarded to the said George R.
Curtis Company.
At this time Council.man Durbin introduced
RESOLUTION NO. 499: A Resolution awarding the contract for the
improvement of Topeka Avenue to the George R. CUrtis Compa.ny.. and
moved its adoption" which wa.s duly seconded by Councilman Levy,
and carried.
The City Clerk reported that this was the time and
place set for the hearing in the matter of the assessment on
East 46th Street,. a.s per Resolution of Intention No. 481. He
further reported tha.t there were no written appea.ls or objections
f'iled with him. The Council deemed it advisa.ble that the con-
firmation of the assessment be laid over until the next. regula.r
meeting.
It was moved by Levy and seconded by Durbin that the
hearing on. the assessment district for the improvement of Ea.st
46th Street;be la.id over until the next regular meeting. Motion
earried.
ORDINANCE NO. 405: .An Ordina.nce prohibiting the use of public
fire hydra.nts by private eitizens without a permit, was read for
second rea.ding.
It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that
Ordinance No. 405 be passed for second reading. Motion carried.
ORDINANCE NO. 405: An Ordinance prohibiting the use of public
f'ire hydrants by priva.te citizens without a permit. was read for
third and f'inal rea.ding.
It wa.s move,d by Durbin and seconded by Levy that
Ordinance No. 405 be a.dopted. Motion carried by the following
vote:
AYES: Dubbin, Levy J Furlong a.nd Leonis.
NOES: None

ORDINANCE NO. 406: An Ordinance regulating and licensing
restaurants and other places where food and drink is sold or
offered for sale. wa.s read for second reading.
It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that
Ordinance No. 406 be passed for second reading.

It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that
Ordinance No. 406 be adopted. Motion carried by the following
vote:

A cormnunication from the state Board of' :Health. re-
garding 57th Street and Slauson Avenue sewers. was read.
It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Durbin that same
be referred to the Sewer Committee. Motion carried.
A communication from the Neon Light Corporation. re-
questing a per.mit to conduct a business at the northeast corner
of 37th Street and Santa Fe Avenue. was read.
It was moved by Levy and seconded by Dur~in that the
corrmrunication be filed and the permit granted. Motion carried.
A communication from Forbes Bros. Company for permission
to haul rubbish to the city dump, was read.
It wa.s moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that the
communica.tion be filed and the permit granted. :r.fotion carried.
A coromunication from the Everlasting Paint & Sales Com-
pany, No. 550l South Boyle Avenue" for a per.mit to repair
balcony and construct a. roof, was rea.d.
It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy tha.t the
cornmunication be filed and a permit granted, to repair the
balcony. Motion carried.
An application by Frank Milutino:vich for a permit to
operate a restaurant in New :Ma.rket Building in Central Manufac-
turing District. was read.
It was moved by Leonis and seeonded by Durbin that
same be referred to the Police Department for investigation and
report. Motion carried.
An a.pplio~tion by Tarokichi Kuroda for a permit to
operate a pOOil room. in Produce Market in Central IJra.nufacturing
District~ wa.s read.
It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that same
be referred to the Police Department for investigation and
report. Motion carried.
A cOInmunication from the Automatic Sewer Flusher Com-
pany regarding Burns Automatic Sewer Flusher, was rea..d.
It wa.s moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that same
be referred to the Sewer Connni ttee for in.vestigation and report.

cost $250.00.
APPLICATION NO. 1322: By TtNeedt &- Beck for an office at the north-
west corner' C1f Leonis Blvd. and Downey Road. Approximate cost
$200..00.
APPLICATION NO. 1323: By Grant Oil Tool Company for building
permit for addition to ~isting building at 2042 East Vernon Ave.
Approximate cost $3500.00.
APPLICATION EO. 1324: By Neon Light Corporation for building
permit for alterations in building at 37th Street and Santa Fe
Avenue. Aq;>proximate cost $300.00.

gas main on Magnol.i& Avenue north from Fruitland Roa.d to. 50th
Street. thence west on 50th street as shown on sketch.

approximate cost $1500.00. was read.
It was moved by Levy and seconded by Durbin that same
be filed. Motion carried.
The report of the PoI-ice Department on the application
of B. F. Kindred for application for restaurant at No. 2318
Ea.,st. 52nd Street. was read.
It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Levy that same be
referred back to the Police Department for further investiga,tion
and report. Motion carried.

The report of the Police Department on the application
of Eagle Iro-n & Metal Company for junk ya.rd license. was read, the
PoIice Department recommending that the license be denied.
It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that the
recommendation of the Police Department be concurred in and the
application denied. Motion ca,rried.
A communication from B. F. Kindred requesting a. copy of
Ordit1ance regulating restaurants. wa.s read.
It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy that same
be filed. Motion carried.
It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Durbin that the
matte.r of having the water ta.nk of the City painted, be referred
to the City Engineer for investigation and report. Motion carried.
Demands o,n the General Fund in the sum of $11.096.63,
were reao..
It was moved by Levy and seconded by Durbin that the
demands be allo,wed and warrants drawn for the same. Motion
carr ied.
