rea.,ding of the minutes af the meetings of january 3rd and

A communicat ion from the Forbes Brathers Company,. af
2808 Santa Fe .A"lenue,. sta.t.ing that the Gabrie~s Rubbish Compa.ny
is hauling their rubbish fram 2808 Santa Fe Avenue, a.nd re-
questing a. permit to conduct sa.id ha.u~ing.
It wa.s moved by Du:rbin a.nd secanded by Levy that the
communication be filed and the permit granted. Motion. ca.rried.

the City Engineer, were rea.d:

It was moved by Durbin a.nd seconded by Levy that the
applications be filed a.nd the permits granted. Motion carried.
A.t this time the City Atto.rney reported that he had been
in co.nference with the officers of the Vernon IndustriaJL Develop-
ment C'ompany and ha.d entered into negotiations toward advertising

and promot.ing the welfare of the CIty of Vernon" and submitted
ORDnrA.Nc.:E IiQ.. 408.: which was read for first reading.
It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Iifny that
Ordinance No.. be passed for first reading. Iotion carried.
At this time the City Attorney further reported that in
his opinion: he could have the eontraets ready for the a.ppro'V'a.1
of the Council on .Ja.nuary 23rd" and requested that the Council
pass a. motion that when the meeting a.dj o-um. it adjourn. until
.:ranua.ry 23rd,.. at 4:-3Q o.clock P.M.
It was moved by Leo-nis and seconded by Durbin that the
request of the Oi ty Attorney be granted and tha.t when this
meeting adj oo.rn it adj ourn. to J'"^a..nua.ry 23,. 1928. at 4:30 at clock
P.M. Motion carried.
The r-eport of the Police Department on So communieat ion
from .&.ram S8.royan regarding: the use of Harriett Street by the
Southern Ca.1ifor>nia Rubbish Associa.tion,. was read.
It was moved by Leonie and seconded by Durbin that
same be filed. Motion carried.
The report of the Pol-ice Department on the a..pplieat ion
of X. O. Brown for a.. permit for a. restaurant at 2513 Fruitland
Road" was read" wherein the Police Department recommended a.
lieense be grant.ed to .J. O. Brown.
It wa.s moved by Durbin and seconded by Levy tha..t the
recommendation of" the Poliee Depa.rtment be concur-red in. and tha.t
a. permit be granted. Motion carried.
