Owing to the fact tha.t the qUOI'WD. wa.s no t
present, the Oi ty 01 ark announced tha.t this vas the
time and place set for the receiving of bids for the
construction of a bridge on Soto Street, and adjourned
the aeeting until 10.00 o'clock A. K~ on the 31st day
of July, 1928.

Councilmen present were: Kniffin, Durbin al d
Leonis.
Councilmen absent were:
Levy and Furlong.
Owing to the f act that lIa.iCor Furlong was ab sent
from the city, Councilman Durbin introduced
RESOLUTION NO. 521: A resolution appointing Councilman
Leoni s to act as _or of the City of Vernon in the
absence of :Mayor Furlong, which was seconded by Council-
man Kniffin and carried.
The Ci ty Clerk announced a.t this time that he
had on his desk bids for the construction of the bridge
on Soto Street, from W. M. Ledbetter and Company, Lang
Bergstrom Campany and the Pozzo Construction Company.
It was moved by Kniffin, and seconded by Durbin
that the City Clerk be ins true ted to open and read the
bids. lIotion carried.
The City Clerk then opened m d read the bids
a.s follows:
The bid of W. ll. Ledbetter an d Company far the
construction of said bridge on Soto Street was $169,597.00
The bid of the Lang Bergstrom Company for the
construction of said bridge un Soto Street was $183,000.00.
The bid of the Pozzo Construction Company for the
construction of said bridge on Soto Street was $163,500.00
After said bids were checked by the Ci ty Engineer,
who was present, he reported that the bid of the Pozzo
Construction Company was the lowest responsible bid and
rec cmmended that the contract be given to the Pozzo Con-
struction Company.
It VIaS moved by Durbin and seconded by Kniffin tha.t
the recommendation of the Ci ty Engineer be concurred in
and that all bids be rejected, except~ tre bid of the PozzQ>
Construction Company, and the said Pozzo Construction Com-
pany be awarded the contract for the construction of said
bridge , as advertised, for Soto Street. llotion carried.
The following applications, all having the ap-
proval of tre City Engineer, were read:

APPLICATION NO. 1554: By Filtrol Company for a. building
permit for the construction of a factory warehouse at
3020 East 25th street. Approximate cost 12500.00
APPLICATION NO. 1555: By John Oganesoff for bUilding pe r-
mit for the construction of a. truck shed. at 2120 East
37th street. Approximate cost 1200.00.
APPLICATION NO. 1556: By F. Nakomoto for building permi t
for the construction of addition of frame school buiJdiqg
at 5401 D:a.gnolia Avenue. Approximate cost 1200.00
It -was moved by Kniffin. al d sec onded by Durbin
that these applications be filed and permi ts granted.
It was moved by Kniffin m d seconded by Durbin
that the meeting adj ourn. Motion carried.
