The meet ing was ca.lled to order by the Mayor

Councilman absent were: Kniffin
Minutes of the previous meeting of December
4th were read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy that
the minutes be approved as read. Motion carried.
Report of the City Engineer on bids of' the
Gamewell Company for installatian .of additional fire
ala.rm boxes. was read.

so that the board may be infarmed in the matter.
Communication from the Finkelstein Foundry Sup-
ply for a. permit to Qperate a foundry supply business at
East 27th Street, was read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Leonis that
the matter be laid over u:nti1 the next regular meeting of

A.t this time the Police Commission recommended
that the City adv anc e $25.00 to the Fir e Chief to at tend
the Fire Chiefs. C'Onvention J'anuary l2th-l.3th.
It was moved by Durbin. seconded by Leonis that
the recommendation of the Police Commission be concurred
in and the City advance the said. $25.00. Motion carried.

first reading.
It was moved by Durbin. seconded by Leonis that
Ordinance No. 418 be passed for first reading. Motion
carried.
ORDINANCE NO. 419: An ordinance prohibiting the manu-
facturing of paints and va.rnish in any district wi thin
the oil zone in the City of Vernon. was read for first
reading,
It was moved by Durbin. seconded by Leonie that
Ordin&.nce No. 419 be passed for first reading. Motion
caorried.
