and Levy.

It Was moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy tha.t the
reading of the minutes of the previous meeting be dispensed
with. Mot ion carried.

Application of the ~an Pacific Oil Company for
permit to opera..te a gasoline canning plant at 241.1 Ea.st 30th
Street which had been heretofore laid over, was again
presented by the City Clerk.
It: was moved by Levy, seconded by Durbin that the
applioation be filed a.nd permit granted. Uotion ca.rried.
It wa.s moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy that a.
temporary permit be granted to the Southern California Pipe
Line Company to complete their work in crossing 26th Street
under the supen ision of the City Engineer of Vernon. Motion
carried.
Application for a pipe line franchise by the Wilshire
Oil Company WaS read.
It "vas moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy that the
application be filed.
OBDIl'fANCE NO. 420: An ordinance granting a franchise to the
Wilshire Oil Company. was read for first reading.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy that
Ordinance No. 420 be passed for first reading. Uotion
carried.
Application of the Sunset Pacific Oil Company
directing a. certain pipe line; franchise to be advertised
and offered for sale, was read.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Levy that
the application be filed.
RESOLUTION NO. 528: A resolution of the City Council of the
City of Vernon directing that a certain pipe line franchise
be advertised and offered for sale, was read.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin that
Resolution No. 528 be adopted. Motion carried.

A communicatian from the A. M. Castle rrampany re-
questing a. permit to remave refuse fram their premises at
37th and Ross Streets, was read.
It was maved by Levy, seconded by Duro,in that
the application be filed and permit granted.
Application from A. R. Haines for permit and license
to operate candy vending machines at certain designated places
as set forth in the applicatian, was read.
It was moved by Levy, seconded by Durbin that the
a.pplica.tian be filed and permit granted. Motion carried.

It wC'..s moved by Durbin. seconded by Levy that the
applications be filed and permits granted. Motion carried.
At this time Councilman Leonis and City Engineer
McCurdy made their I' eport on the se\'U!er condit ions of the city
and explained in detai.l their conference with the representatives
of the City of Los Angeles.
It was moved by Levy, seconded by Durbin that the
report of the Sew'er Committee be filed. Motion carried.
At tilis time the City Engineer- made a report on the
bid of the Gamewell Company, in \vhich he stated that this
company would. furnish an extra. box in addit ion to those des-
cribed in their bid. and recommended that the bid of the
Gamewell Company be a.ccepted.
It was moved cy Leonis, seconded by Durbin tha.t the
bid of the Gamewel1 Company be accepted, and that the Mayor and
City Clerk be instructed to enter into a contract with the
said company at the price stated in their bid. upon the
filing with the City Clerk of a letter to the effect that the
city wou~d be entit1ed to an extra fire box. Motion carried.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbim that the
matter of the Suconem Corporation permit be referred to the
City Attorney. Motion carried.
