It was moved by Furlong, seconded by Leonis
that the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting
be suspended. Mot ion carried.
ORD'DfANCE NO. 420: An ordinance grant ing a franchise to the
WIlshire Oilaomp.any Vla.s read for second reading.

Ordinanae No. 420 be passed for second rea.ding.
ORDINANCE NO. 420: An ordinance gra.nt ing a franchise to the
Wilshire Oil Compa.ny w.as read for third reading.

Ordina.nce No. 420 be pa.ssed for third and final reading.

A c~unication from ~vift and Company regarding
sewer connect ion at Vernon and .Tewel Avenue, was read.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin
that the communication be filed. and the City Clerk be in-
structed to notify the Board of Public Works that the
Sewer Committee or the City Counc il would be ready to
meet them at any time.

Communication from Collins Kay Company for permit
..to remove rubbish from their premises at 3960 Santa Fe
Avenue .
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy tha.t
the co~nication be filed and permit granted. Motion
carried.

Company for permit to remove rubbish from 2822 Santa Fe
Avenue, Vias read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy that
the application be filed and permit granted. Motion
carried.
Communication from Hattems Market, 4269 South
'llestern Avenue, for a permit to haul rubbish and market
refuse through the City of Vernon to the Los Angeles
Dump, wa.s read.
It VIas moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy that
the communication be filed and the City Clerk be instructed
tQ notify the writer that the shortest route to sud
d'l.:lmp would not cause them to come into the City of Vernon.
Mo.t ion carried.
Communication from the Chevrolet Motor C<mtpa.ny,
5801 South Broadway, Los Angeles, for permit to haul rubbish
from the City of Vernon to the Los Angeles municipal dump,
was read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy that the
communication take the same course as the previous one.
Motion carried.
Report of the Vernon Industria.l Associa.tion was
read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy that swme
be filed. ~tion carried.

It was maved by Durbin; secanded by Levy that 8..11
the applicatians be filed and permits granted \'!lith the
exception af Application No.. 1780, and that such ap-
plication be laid over until the next regular meeting.
Motion carried.
Report of the Polic e Department on the general
caudi t ion of' the city was read.
It was moved by Durbin, se cond ed by Levy that same
be fil.ed and referred to the Police Connnission. Motian
carried.
Demands on the general fu.nd in the sum of $' 'li39Q~
\vere read. sa.id amount be ing made up af salaries and
wages in the sum af $3985.2-0 and. purchases and ather e:x:-
pense $2,430.13.
It was moved by Leanie, seconded by Durbin that
the demands be a.llowed and warrant s dra.wn f or same. :Mot ion
carried.
At this time application No. 1755 of the Southern
Ca.l.ifornia. Gas Company for permit to furnish service to
the Standard Pipe Company, VIas read.
It Vfas moved by Durbin, secanded by Leonis that the
matter be referred to. the whale board and that when this
meeting adjaurned, it \vauld be adjourned until 3.00 P. M.
February 19th.1l0tion carried.
It was moved by Leonis; secanded by Durbin that the
City Attorney be instructed to look into the ordinance
\"lith reference to cutting af the streets and make &n
amendment if necessary to such ordinance, ~Yhereby the fees
for inspection of repairs to. streets should be incl.uded,
if this is nat the case. Motion carried.
