A.t this time the Oi ty Clerk announced tha.t the
date far hearing the protesta upon the improvement
of 57th Street and a portion of Second Street w:as
Apr i1 15th and a. quorum not being present the meeting
was adjourned to this ~te. He also reported that
no protests ha.d been filed up to the hour set for
hearing the protests or since.
!he Kayar at this time asked if there was any
person in the audiemce or in the hall who had a.ny
protest to make on the im;provement of' 57th Street anda
portion of Second Street. Rearing no response,
Councilman Durbin introduced
RESQLUTIOli NO. 534: A resolution ordering the work
to be done. whiCh was seconded by Councilman 1,eQ;nis
and carried.]
Petition submitted by the Atchison, !opelm. and
Santa :fe Railroad Co. for spur tracka,cross Washington
Blvd., was read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Leonis that
the petition be filed.
ORDINANCE NO. 421: An ordinance granting the A.tchiscm,
Topeka ~nd Santa Fe Railroad Co. a franchise for a. .
spur t:ra.ek across Washington Blvd., VlaS read for
first reading.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin that
Ordinance No. 421 be passed for first reading. Kotion

for permit to haul rubbish from their premises at
2323 llast 27th Street to Blue Diamond pit, in the City
of Los Angeles. was read.

It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin that the
communication be filed and permit granted. Motion carried.
Communicat ion from the Angelus Roof, Paper and Paint
Company for a permit to haul refuse from their pla.nt to
the Los Angel.es Incinerator, was read.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin that the
communication be filed and permit granted. Motion carried.
Communication from the Luer Packing Company for permit
to haul refuse from their premises a.t 3025 East Vernon
Avenue outside of the city.
It was moved by Durbin. seconded by Leonie that the
comrnunicat ion be filed and permit granted. Motion carried.
Comrnunica.tion from the Western Iran and Metal. Company
for permit to burn. rubbish accumulated on lot at the carner
of 26th and Santa Fe Avenue, was read.
It was moved by Le onis, seconded by Durbin th~t the
cOTIlli1unication be filed and permit granted providing same is
burned under the supervision of the Fire Chief. Motion
carried.
Communication from A. B. hoyt for permit to run and
operate a sign painting business at 2027 East 38th Street.
Said signs are to be painted on glass and baked.

conununication be filed and permit granted. Motion carried.
Communication from Kohlenberger Engineering Company
for permit and license to onen a branch office for the sale
of refrigerating machine~J ~nd e~uipmcnt at 2035 East 38th
Street, wa.s read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Leonis that the
communicat ion be filed and permit granted. Mot ion carried.

Avenue to either repair or destroy the fence that is nOW'
in a d.ilapidated condition on the ground formerly used a.a a.
