It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Leonis thai the
reading of the minwtes of the previous meeting be dis-
pensed with. )(otion carried.
At this time the ~ity Attorney made 8. report wherein
he requested that a communica.tion be sent to the Stauffer
Chemical. Company ealling their attention to the odor
emanat ing from their plant, and informing: them that if'
it was not immediately relieved, the City Council would
hoJLd a. public- meeting and get all the faCtts and take
whatever action may be necessary in the premises.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin that the
report be filed and the City Clerk be instructed to write
to the Stauffer Chemica.l Company a10ng the 1ines set
forth in the rep.ort made by the City Attorney, and
also write the protestants. Motion carried.
Communication from the Sunset. Pacific Oil Company
for renewal of permit to haul. refuse from p]ant loca.ted
at 2435 East Vernon Avenue to be disposed of a.t the L. A.
By-Products Company,. 25th and Los Angeles River, or
Atla.s Mixed Morta.r Co. 2.901 Santa. Fe Avenue, or (Jon-
sumers Rock and Gravel (Jompany.. was rea.d.
It was moved by Lecrnis. seconded by Durbin that
the communication be filed and permit granted. Motion
carried.
COmmunication fram Hamilton Diamond e~pany re~
questing that a permit be issued ta Isaac' Kushner to sell
diamond.:a and watches in the City of Vernon, vms read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Leonis that the
same be referred to the PoI.ice Commission. Kotion

Communication from Mr. and Mrs. Ed GreelDlood Clom-
pI.aining of fumes in the neighborhood of 2680 50to Street.,
was read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Leonis that the
same be referred to. the City Attorney. Motion carried.

Report of the Police Department on the a.ppl.ication
of Relena Sa.J..o for permit to operate a. restaurant at
:5405 East Slauson Avenue, wherein the Po.lice Depar1;ment
recommended that, owing to the faat tha.t the prauLises
are not connected with the sewer, that the application
be denied.
It wa.s moved by Durbin, seconded by Leonie that
the report of the Police Commission be fil.ed am ap-
plica.t ion denied. 1l0tion carried.
Report of the Police Department on the genera.l
condition of the city was read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Leonis that
same be filed. BOtio. carried.
At this time the Oi ty Engineer reported on the
seiter situation with the City o.f Los Angel.es.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Leonis that
the report. be received and referred to the C'ity .&tt.orney
and. Sewer- C'ommittee of the Cwncil.. Jlotion carried.
