The meeting was called to order by the Mayor,

Moved by Durbin, seconded by Leonis, that the read-
ing of the minutes of the previous meeting be dispensed wi the

It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Leonis, that
the appropriations or budget fixed for the year 1929-30
be adopted and approved. Motion carried.
Communication from William H. Smith, 1245 East
46th Street, requesting a permit to solicit rubbish hauling
in the city of Vernon, was read.
Moved by Durbin, seconded by Leonis, that the same
be filed. Motion carried.
Communication from the American Encaustic Tiling
Company fOT'permi t to haul refuse from their premises at .
2030 East 52nd Street, was read.
It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Leonis that
the application be filed and the permit granted. Motion
carried.
Communication from Felix Pullen for permit and
license to operate a retinning shop at 2027 East 38th Street,
was read.
Moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that the
communication be filed and permit granted. Motion carried.
Communication from Southern California utilities
Company, requesting per.mission to connect a temporary meter
to the fire hydrant at 37th and Ross Street, to supply their
reservoir for a period of three weeks during the completion
of a new well of said company, was read.
I~ was moved by Durbin and seconded by Leonis that
the communication be filed and the City Engineer be instructed
to comply with the request of the Sohthern'California Utilities
Company. Motion carried.
The following applications, all having the approval
of the City Engineer, were read:
APPLICATION 1926: by Pennzoil Company for building permit for
the construction of platform on Lot 1 rract 4117 (2626 Santa
Fe Avenue). Approximate cost $900.00.
APPLICATION 1927: by Western Pipe & Steel Company for building
permit for the construction of shop building at 57th and Santa
Fe Avenue (Lot 2 Tract 4293). Approximate cost $13,000.00.
APPLICATION 1928: by Universal Engineering Company for build-
ing permit for the construction of heat treating bUildiIE at
2369 East 51st Street. Approximate cost $1200.00. .
APPLICATION 1929: by A. E. Klubinkin for building permit for
the cQnstruction of cattle shed; also to replace fence at
3425 East Vernon Avenue. Approximate cost $750.00.
APPLICATION 1930: by Santa Fe Railway Company for building
permit for the construction of tinshop at 26th and Holabird
Avenue. Approximate cost $14,000.00.
APPLICATION 1931: by AngelUS Sanitary Can Company for permit
to install 285 gallon gasoline tank and pump at 4900 Pacific
Boulevard. Approximate cost $80.00.
