Furlong. Councilmen present: Durbin, :h'urlong, Leonis Councilmen absent: Kniffin, Levy It was moved by Durbin and seconded by Leonis that the reading of the Minutes of the previous meeting be dis- pensed with. :Motion carried. At this time the City Engineer, H~lard McCurdy, reported that there was a defect in the plans and specifica- t ions for the improvement of Sot 0 Street, and stat ed that, as they now stood, it would be impossible tp proceed and that, in his opinion, it would be for the best interests of the city that all proceedings be abandoned and new proceed- ings commenced. After some discussion Councilman Durbin intro- duced Resolution No. 570, a resolution abandoning all pro- ceedings for the improvement of Soto Street and the rejec- tion of all bids that were now before the city Council for the doing of said work, and moved its adoption. Seconded by Councilman Leonis and carried. Communication from Machinists' Tool & Supply Co. requesting a permit and license to operate a machinist tool and supply company at 3690 Santa Fe Avenue was read. Moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that the communication be filed and permit granted. Motion carried. Communication from August Gehring for permit to haul garbage from his cafeteria located at 4813 Lorna. Vista Avenue, said garbage to be disposed of outside the city of Vernon, was read. Moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that the communication be filed and permit granted. Mot ion carried. Communication from Gunn Furniture Company for permit to haul refuse from its premises at 4561 East 48th Street was read. Moved by Durbin, seconded by Leonis, that the com- munication be filed and permit granted. Motion carried. Communication from Machinists' Tool & Supply Co. for a. permit to haul refuse from its premises at 3690 Santa Fe Avenue was read. Motion carried. , Resolution No. 574, a resolution of the City Iooouncil of the city of Vernon, declaring their inten- t ion to improve Sot 0 street, as set forth in said Resolution, was read.
