The meeting was called to order by the Mayor, .T. J.
Councilmen present: Leonis, Levy, Durbin, Furlong
Councilman absent: Ehif~in
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that the
reading of the Minutes of the previous meeting be dispensed
with. Motion carried.
ORDINANCE NO. 429, an ordinance ordering a certain
unnamed alley in Block 24, Huntington Park Extension No. 1
to be closed and vacated, was read for second reading.
Moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that Ordinance
No. 429 be p~l3sed for second reading. Motion carried.
ORDINANCE NO. 429, an ordina.nce ordering a certain
unnamed alley in Block 24. Huntington Park Extension No. 1
to be closed and vaca.ted, was read for third and final reading.
Moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that Ordinance
No. 429 be adopted. Motion carried by the following vote:

ORDINANCE NO. 430, an ordinance declaring intention
to call an election for the formation of a municipal improve-
ment district in the city of Vernon, was read for first read-
ing.
Moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that Ordinance
No. 430 be passed for first reading. Motion carried.
Cammunication from the County Counsel of Los Angeles
County regarding the application far separation of grades an
Washington Boul.evard over the trac:ks of the Los Ange.les &
sale Lake Railway Company, w~s read.
Moved by Levy, seconded by Durbin, that same be laid
aver until a meeting of theTll1~1~ Council. Motion carried.
A copy of resolution sent City Council by the Downey
Road Improvement Association wa.s read.
Moved by Levy, seconded by Durbin, that same be
filed. Motion carried.
Communication from the South Gate Chamber of Com-
merce regarding Greater California Avenue Highway Association
was read.

Communication from ~ohn Oganesoff in reference to
the application of A.. Bozigian amd wife for restaurant license
at 3001 Downey Roa.d Vias read.
Moved by Levy, seconded by Durbin, that same be
filed. Motion carried.
Report of the Police Depa.r~ment on the application
of A. Bozigian for restaurant license at 3001 Downey Road
was read. Moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that the report
be filed and the application granted. Motion carried.
Report of the Police Department on the application
of G. Pariusos for permit and license to operate a cigar and
soft drink stand at Leonis Blvd. and Downey Road was rea.d.
The Police Department recommended that the applica..-
be not acted upon favorably by the Council owing to the fact
that there is no building available at the pla.ce designated
in the application.
Moved by Levy, seconded by Durbin, that the applica-
tion be laid over. Motion aa.rried.
At this time the City Engineer reported that the
deed from the California Trust Company to the City of Vernon
for a portion of Randolph Street wa.s correct as to descrip-
tion.
Councilman Durbin introduced Resolution lIo. 578
accepting said deed from the California Trust Company to the
City of Vernon and instructing the City Clerk to record the
same, and moved its adoption. Seconded by Councilman Levy,
and carried.
Communication from Harry Gluck for a soldier's
license in the city of Vernon was rea.d.
Moved by Levy, seconded by Durbin, that the same
be filed. Motion carried.
ORDINANCE NO. 431, an ordinance regulating motor
traffic in the city of Vernon was rea.d.for first reading.
Moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that the same
be passed for first reading. Motion carried.

It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that
the City Clerk be author ized and instructed to advertise
for the street Department the following equipment~
One small fifteen horsepower tractor
One seven tooth rooter
One tractor trailer
One Ford truck, stake body, hand hoist
Motion carried.

of the City Engineer, were read:
Application 2195: of Levy Bros. Box Company for building
permit for the construction of storage shed and stucco fence
at 2120 East 37th Street. Approximate cost $700.00.
A;pplication 2196: of Colisie &: Fickersen for permit for
the insta.l1ation of ammonia aysten at 4820 Everett Street.
App,roximate oost '12,000.00.
Application 2197: of Crescent Refining Company for building
permit for the replacement.. of two boilers at 2460 East 28th
Street. Approximate cost $2,000.00.
A.pplication 2198: of Tillotson Clay Products for building
permit for the construct ion of hous.ing over machinery at
3363 Fruitland Road. Approximate cost $300.00.
Application 2199: of Los Angeles Sausage Company for the
installation of 280 gallon gasoline tank and pump at 4820
Everett Street. Approximate cost $150.00.
Applicat ion 2200: of Boyle Manufacturing Company for build-
ing permit for the construction of concrete and brick vault
to enclose electrical equipment at 5100 Santa Fe Avenue.
Approximate cost $6,00.00.
Application 2201: of Lang Transporta.tion Company for build-
ing permit to make alterations in office a.t 5510 Santa Fe
Avenue. Approximate cost $4,000.00.
Applica.tion 2202: of H. &: 3'. Truck Company for permit to
mD.ve frame building on to lot at 2029 3'unior Street for
office. Approximate cost $200.00.
Application 2204: of Lavy Bros. Box C1mlpany for permit to
construct dri.veway at 2120 Ea.st 37th street.
Application 2205: of Pacific Steel Building Company for
pexmit to remove curb for driveway at Downey Road and
Ja.'boneria Road.
Application 2206: of Southern California Gas Company for
excavation permit to la.y gas main on East 26th Street between
Minerva and Soto Streets.
Application 2207: of Southern California Telephone Company
for permit to place approximately 8 feet of 3" iron pipe on
south side of East 37th Street, eaat of Santa.' Fe Avenue.
Appl.ication 2208~ of Southern california. Telephone Company
for permit to place 14 feet of 4" aewer tile across Santa Fe
Avanue, north of 51st Street to serve Worthington Pump Co.

Moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that tha applications
be filed and permits granted. Motion aarried.
Application 2209; of Patten & Davies Lumber Co. for building
permit to construct shaving bin at 26th and Soto Streets, at an approximate
cost 01 $1000.00 was read.
It wa s moved by IJeonis, seconded by Durbin that this
application be referred to the Fire Chief for report. Motion carried

were read, said total consisting of the following items:

It was moved by Ie onis, seconded by Durbin, that the
demands be allowed and warrants drawn on the Treasurer for the
same. Motion carried.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that
the meeting ad:ourn to January 27th. Motion carried.
