MINUTES OF AN ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING
OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TEE CITY OF VERNON
HELD ON THE 24TH DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1930,
AT THE CITY HALL OF THE CITY OF VERNON,

The meeting was called to order by the Mayor, ~. ~.
Furlong.
Councilmen present: Levy, Leonis, Durbin, Furlong
Councilmen absent : Kniffin
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Leonis, that
the reading of the Minutes of the previous meeting be dis-
pensed with. Motion carried.
ORDINANCE NO. 433, an ordinance creating a Munic-
ipal Improvement District, was read for second reading.
It was mov ed by Levy, seconded by Durbin, that
Ordinance No. 433 be passed for second reading. Motion
carried.
ORDINANCE NO. 433, an ordinance creating a Munic-

readi ng .
It was moved py Levy, seconded by Durbin, that
Ordinance No. 433 be adopted. Motion carried by the follow-
ing vote:

Noes: None
Absent: Kniffin
Application submitted by the County of Los Angeles,
regarding separation of grades on Washington Boulevard, over
tracks of the Los Angeles & Sa.lt Lake Railway Company, was
submitted by the City Clerk.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that the
same be referred to the C1 ty Engine er for report. Mot ion
carried.
Communication ,from the Los Angeles Manufacturing Co.
for permit to hold baseba.ll games at the old Vernon Baseball
Park on Sundays, was read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded b.Y Levy, that the
same be referred to the Police Department. Motion carried.
Application of Friedman-Zoeller, Inc., for permit
and license to operate a.n ornamental iron shop at 5008
Pacific Boulevard, wa.s read.
It was moved by Levy, seconded by Durbin, that the
application be filed and the permit granted. Motion carried.

located at 2101 East 51st Street, regarding the discha.rging
of dust from the Globe Mills on East 51st Street, was read.
It was mOiVed by Durbin, seconded by Leonis, tha.t
the same be referred to the :Police Department for invest iga-
tion a.nd report. Motion ca.rried.
G~nica.tion from Tillotson Clay Products Compa.ny,
requesting permit for the hauling of refuse from its prem-
ises a.t 3363 Fruitland Road, was read.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that
the communication be filed and the permit granted.
The following applicat ions, all having the approval
of the City Engineer, were rea.d:
Application 22~5: of ~acific Steel Building Con~any for
building permit for the construction of a warehouse at 2065
East 51st Street. Approximate cost $1000.00.
Application 2255: of Pioneer ~aper Company for building per-
mit for the construction of condensers a.t 55th and Alameda.
Streets. Approximate cost $1550.00.
Application 2ZSa: of Union Tank &: Pipe Company for building
permit for extension of shop building at 2801 Santa Fe Ave.
Approxinate cost $-3000.00.
ApJ>lication 2239: of Southern California Telephone Co. for
permit t,o move a. pole ten feet ea.st on the north side of
27th Street, west of Santa Fe Avenue.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Leonie, tha.t
the applica.tions be filed and the permits granted. Motion
carried.
Application 2237: of the Pioneer Paper Company for building
permit for the c onstruc'tion of an Emuls ion Plant at 55th and
Alameda. Streets. Approximate cost $35,000.00. was read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Leonis, tha.t the
same be referred to. H. H. Isaac, Foamite Inspector. Motion
ca.rried.

meeting adjourn. Motion carried.
