It was moved by Durbin, secanded by Leanis,
that the reading af the Minutes of the previaus meeting
be dispensed with. Motian carried.

& Santa Fe Ra.ilway Campany far a. spur track across East
26th Street, to. serve the praperty af the .&'iltral Campany,
was read.
It was moved by Durbin, secanded by Leanis,
that the same be refexred to. the City Engineer- far check-
ing and repo.rt. Matian carried.

regarding the power plant, was read.

An order a,f extension of time by the Ra.i1road Com-
mission to, the Atchisan, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Co. ,
in Decision No. 21696, was read.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that
the same be filed. Motion carried.
Communicatian from the Sunset jpacific Oil Co.,
Atlas Packing Co., Unit ed Dressed Beef Co., Baldridge .Pack-
ing Co., requesting that the Vernon Avenue starm drain be
set over to, await better business canditions, was read.
It was maved by Durbin, seconded by Leonis, tha.t
the same be fi1ed. Matian carried.
Communication from the Caast Packing Co., stating
that they are willing tha.t the wark on the Vernon Avenue
storm drain be started as saon as possible, was read.

the communications. be filed and the permit granted. Motian

Cammunicat ion from the Los Angeles Macarani Co.,
requesting tempora.ry permit for staring a. gasoline buggy
on their premises, was read.
It was maved by Le onis, seconded by Durbin, that
the same be r'efe:rred to the City Attorney wi th instructians
to, anS'll'er the same a.nd to cite the city ardinance on the
que st ian. Mot ion carried.
Co:rmnunica.t ion from the Huntington Park Rubbish Co.,
requesting permit to haul through the Cityaf Vernan to the
incinerator, a.nd also, a permit to, ha.ul refuse from the city
of Vernon, \1'a.s read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Leanis, that
the communication be filed and the permit denied. Motian
carried.
Report of the Water Department was read.

It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Leonis, that
the same be filed. Motion carried.
Recpart of the Fire Chief regarding the Los Angeles
Incinerator, wherein he stated tha.t said incinerator was
now a fire menace to the city of Vernon, was read.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that
the report of the Fire Chief be considered filed and the of Pub-
city attorney be requested to communicate with the Los Angeles :BoarY
lie Works in reference to the said fire menace. Motion
carried.
Report of the Police Department was read.
It wa.s moved by Durbin, seconded by Leonis, that
the same be filed. Motion earried.

At this time the City Engineer requested permission
to employ an assistant engineer to check up and ascertain the
va.luation of the elec~tric transm.ission lines of the city.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Leonis, that
the request of the City Engineer be granted, and that he
be instructed to employ such a.ssistance as are necessary, at
a cost not to exceed the sum of $1500.00. Motion carried.
Application 2461: of Richfield Oil Co., for permit
to pa.y four inch gasoline line from the ea.sterly limit of
28th Street to a point 50 feet west of west bounda.ry line of
Santa Fe Railroad tracks and 6 feet north into property, was
read.

It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Leonis, that
the same be re:rerred to the next regular meeting. Mot ion
carried.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that
the City Attorney be instructed to bring in an ordinance
prohibiting crystal gazing and the like in the city of
Vernon. Mot ion carried.
