The meeting was called to order by the M~or,
J. J. Furlong.

a..S contemplated by Resolution of Intention No. 596, waa
presented for the a.pproval of the City CounciL
Councilman Durbin moved tha.t said dia.gram be
appxoved, \V'hich mot ion wa.s seconded by Couna ilma.n Mart in,
and carried.
The; City ClBrk then advised the Council that
this was the time and place fixed pursuant to sta.tute
and notice given for- the he.aring in the matter of the /iUi}-
liessment for the impxovement of Rut Fifty-f ourth Street,
a.s. contemplated by Resolut ion of Intent ion No. 5.96, adopted
on the 21st day of July, 1930. The Clerk al.so informed
the C:ouneil that affidavits of the posting and publishing
of the Notice of Filing Assessment were fil.ed in his of-
fice, a.nd that no written appeals or objecrtions had been
filed in his office prior to the day set for the hearing.
The Mayor a.sked if there w~exe any interested
pe.rsons presant de,siring to be heard in the ma.tter of
the confirmation of the assessment, a.nd, hearing no
response. all interested persons hav ing been given full.
opportunity to show: cause \my the assesmnent shoul.d not
be confirmed, a.nd no abjections be.ing presented, and
the Council being satisfied vlith the correctness of the
assessment, thereupon Caunc ilma.n Durb in moved that said
assessment be confirmed and appxoved, vv;hich mot ion was

the same be referred to the Police Department. Motion

Council.m.&n Durbin intraduced RESOLUTION NO. 615,
a res aIut ion authorizing renta.l of So sar-ety depos it box
at the Ci.tizens National Bank, and moved its adopt.ion, which
was seconded by Caune iIman Mart in, and carried.
Petition of' the Standar'dPaeking Company a.nd athers,
petitianing the City Cauncil that Joseph Garcia. be granted a
permit to' haul live stock within the city limits af' Vernon,
was read.
