Councilmen absent: Leonis, Durbin
It was moved by Martin, seconded by Durbin, that
the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting be dis-
pensed with. Motion carried.
CounciLman Levy introduced Resolution No. 627, &
resolution a.ccepted deed from J. B. Leonis Co. Inet. to the
City of Vernon, for street purposea,
and moved its adoption, which was seconded by C:ouncilman
Martin, and caxT"ied, a.nd the City Clerk wa.a inatructed to
reaord the deed.
Resolution No. 628, &. resolution re-fixing the
time &a Oetober- 19, 1931, for reeeiving bids in the m&tter
of Acquisition & Improvement District No.1, ,was read.
It was moved by Martin, se~onded by Levy, that
Resolution No. 628 be adopted. Motion earried.
Communication fram the law offices of Bla.ck,
Hammack & Black, in behalf of the Conveyor Company which
desires to excavate sand and gravel from the following
property: 5.74 acres mor or less, the frontage of which
cammences on the south line of Slauson Avenue, 663.59
east fram the ea.st line of Boyle Avenue, thence east on
the south line, 356.24 feet, with a uniform depth of ap-
proxima..tely 700.. 54 feet - was read.
It W&2 moved by Levy, seconded by Martin, that
the same be referred to the City ~ngineer. Motion caarried.
Communicat ion from C.ha.pma.n Bros. for permit and
license to manufactura Oriental rugs and carpet cushions
at 4371 Eaat 49th Stree"t, was rea.d.
The same having the a.pproval of the Fire Chief,
it wa.s moved by Levy, seconded by Martin, that the c.om-
munication be fi1ed and the permit . granted. Motion carried.
Communication fram Steel ~ection Company, far
permit and license to conduc.t a. business of cutting and
bending reinforcing bars &t 5125 Santa Fe Avenue, was read.
Ii was moved by Levy, seconded by Martin, that
the communication be fi1ad and the permit granted. llotion
carried.
eo~nication from the Full. Goellel Church of
Maywood, for :permit to hold street meetings near stockyards
market in the Central Manufacturing District, was read.
It was moved by Levy, seconded by Martin, that
