The meeting was ca.lled to order by the Mayor,

It was moved by Wlart1n, seconded by :our.bin, that
the reading of the Minutes of the previous meeting be dis-
pensed with. Motion carried.

At this time Councilman Durbin introduced Resolu-
tion No. 629. a resolution re-fixing time of receiving bids
as November 16, 1931, in the matter of Acquisition and Im-
provement District No~ 1. a.nd moved its adopt ion, which was
seconded by Councilman Martin and carried.
Raport of att orneys on amount necessary f or pay-
ment on interlocutory judgment and costs and expenses of
acquisition in the matter of Acquisition and Improvement
District No. was read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Martin, that
the same be filed. Motion carried.
Resolution No. 630, a. Resolution fixing time for
hearing upon issuance of bonds for an acquis it ion in the
matter of Acquisition and Improvement District No.1, was
read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Leonis, tha.t
Resolution No. 630 be adopted. Motion carried.
Communicat ion from the Electric Switch Clock, Inc.,
for permit to opera.t.e an electric switch cloclc faetory at .
4890 Pac ific Boulevard, was read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Martin, that
the same be referred to the .police Department. Motion
carried.
Communica.tion from the Art .Painting C.omp,any for
permit to operate a furniture finishing business at 521&
Santa. Fe Avenue was read..
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Martin, that
the communication be filed and the permit granted. Motion
carried.

It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Martin, that
the c.ommunic.ation be filed and the permit granted. Motion

the communication be referred to the Fire Chief for in-
ve.stigation and report. Motion carried.

It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Martin, that t.he

for permit to operate a radio advertising car to be used in
the manufaeturing plants during the noon hour, was read.

Avenue, was rea..d.
It wa.s moved by Leonis, seconded by Ma.rtin, that
the a.pplica.tion be gra.nted upon the filing of the request
fr.om the owner of the building. Motion carri.ed.
At this time the City Engineer requested permission
to employ Ralph Sprado, mechanical. engin.eer, in an .advisory
capa.city from time to time as necessary, at a salary not to
exceed Fifty Dollars ($50.00) per day.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that
the request of' the City Engineer be concurred in. Motion
carried.

It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbi.n, that
the City Clerk be instructed to advertise for bids for pipe
on Downey Roa.d c:r.ossing the bridge. Mot ion carried.
At this time the SeV'Jer Col1'J.ll]j.ttee reported they had
a meeting Ocf the Sewer Committee a.nd Mr. Eldridge and Mr.
Nol ton.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that
the report of the Sewer Committee be filed and referred to'
the Committee of the Whol.e. Motion carried.
