At this time Cauncilman Durbin int.raduced Resalu-
tion No.. 6,36, a resalution ascertaining general. pre.vailing
rate per diem of wages in matter af Acquisition & Improve-
ment District No.. 1 af the city of Vernon, and. maved. its
ad.optio.n, which was seconded by Cauncilman Martin, ancl
carried.

dra.ft of a. prapos.al af general. order dealing with r egula.-
tians gaverning the improvement of existing grade crasaings
in Califarnia, was r.e8od.

At this time Mr. Smarden, represent ing the Central
Manufacturing District Sign Painting Company, sp.ake to. the
Cauncil in reference to. the licensing af sign painters in the
city af Vernan.
It was maved by Durbin, secanded by Levy, that the'
matter be referred to. the Cammi ttee af the Whale. Matian
ca.rried.
At this time the City Engineer requested the Cauncil's
permissian to. employ a.n architect to. design the building to. be
used to. hause the pawer pla.nt af the city af Ver-ooo, and recom-
mended Fred' k L. Roehrig, a.t a. campensa.tian af $6.25 per haur',
ar $50.0Q per d~.
It was maved by Durbin, secanded by Levy, that the
City Engineer be empawer-ed to. emplay, for the time necessary,
Mr. Fred tk L. Raehrig. Matian ca.rried.
At this time the City Engineer presented to. the City
Cauncil a. map sho.wing the pawer lines, height af poles to. be
used by the City far the distribut ian af electric ity from the
municipal plant, and asked the City Cauncil to. apprave same.
At this time Ceuncilman Durbin intraduced Resal.ution
No.. 637, a resolutian appro.v ing a. map submitted by the City
E.ngine'er, and. mo.ved its adapt. ion , which wa.s secanded by Co.uncil-
man Levy, and carried.
A.t th.is t.ime Cauncilman Durbin introduced Resolut ion
No.. 638, a. r'esalution abandoning proaeedings far the opening
and widening of Maywood Avenue. and moved its adoption, which
was seeanded by Co.uncilman Levy, and carried.
