At this time the Oi ty Clerk announce.d that 'this waa the time and plaee, provided by 1&w for the canvassing of votes cast at the genera.l municipal elea'tion held in the city of Vernon Oeo April il, 1932. At this time the City Council ca.nva.saed the v otes eat at sa.id genera..l D1t1Iticipa.l election, and Councilman Durbin intro- duced Resolution No. 652, decl&ring the rea-nIts of said mnnieipsl eleC:t ioo, which was seconded by Gouncilma.n Levy, and adopted. Upon the adoption of said Resolution, the Mayor then swore in the City Cle rk, who took the constitutional oath of of- fice. The Mayor vaca.ting the Chair, the City Clerk called the meeting to order and a.nnounced that all the officers eleded had taken their const itutional oath of office a.nd tha.t the duty- of the Coun.oil was to elee:t a Mayor for the ensuing term. It was moved by Councilman Durbin, seconded by Councilman Levy, that J". J". Furlong be eleC'ted Ma.,yo.r of said City. Mot ion carried. At this time 'the Mayor again took the Chair a.nd ac1.ed as the presiding officer of the meeting. ORDmAJ:mE NO. 447, an ordinance zoning a portion of the Oi ty of Vernon iot a certa.in zones where certa.in c.lasses of business may be co.nducted was read for second reading. At this time the City Clerk ~esented a bond in the sum _of 350.000.00 covering the offJ.ces of City Clerk, City l.fa.1:-shal or Police Chief, and Str-eet Superintendent, having been approved as to form by the City Attorney. A.t this time the City Clerk, the: City Treasurer, and Deputy City Clerk and Deputy City Trea.surer presented bonds in the amounts set forth on their face, c:overing the expenditure of money secured from the sale of municipal bonds for the electric plant of the City, in pursua.nce to the ordSX' o:r the City Council, said bonds bav iug be.en ap- proved. by the City Attorney. ORDINANCE NO. 448, an ordinance amending Sec..t ion 1.6 of Ordinance No. 431 of the City of Vernon, was read for second reading. At this time the Water a.nd ~ower Co~ttee reported tha.t the bid 0 f the Buffalo Forge Company far a.ir wuhers waa the lowest and best bid, and that the City Engine er had. recom- mended that all bids be rejecrted except the bid of the Bu:tra10 Forge Company, and that it. be awarded the c:ontzaat, and that the Committee on Water and Power approved this &ction.
