The meet ing waa called to order by the Kayor,
J. X. Furlong.
Councilmen preaent: Furlong. Leonie, Durbin, Peralta
Councilmen absent: Levy

the re:ading of the Minutes of the previoua meet ing be dis-
pensed. with. Motion carried.
At this time the City Clerk announoed that he had
on his desk bids for the furnishing of Labor and material
previously advert.ised for by the City and set forth in
Speo ifica:t ions llos. 65, 6'7 and 69.
It 'lias moved. by PeraJ.ta, seconded by Durbin, that
the City Cl.erk proceed to read the bids under Specifications
Nos. 65, 67 and 69. Motion oarried.
The Clerk opened and publicly read bids for the
furnishiag and construction of water circulating basin, under
Specifications No. 65, submitted by the following firms:

of Gl.obe Packing Company on East Vernon Avenue, was read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that

It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Leonis, that

Circular' letter of Speoial Assessments Relief
Association, denouncing theAutomobile Club of Southern Cali-
fornia, was read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that
the same be filed. Motion carried.
Circular l.etter from Los Angeles County League of
Kunlc ipalit ies, with suggested local ~icenses for' al.coholic
beverages, was read.

the same be filed. Motion carried.
Circular letter from League of California }lunia-
ipalit ias, regarding Assembly Bil~ No. 1172, was read.
It was moved by Peralta, seconded by Durbin, that
the. same be referred to the City Attorney. Motion carried.
Communicat ion from Tobias Broom Norks , for permit
and license to operue a broom faatory at 2201 East 51st
Street, was read.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Durb in. that
the same be fil.ed and the permit granted. }lotion carried.
At this time the &i ty Treasurer request ed the
City Council to authorize the transfer of $71,250.00 from.
The First JaTat ional Bank of Vernon to the Bank of Amer ioa,
Vernon Branch, to be used in the payment of interest on the
Light &Po.er Bonda.
It was moved by Durbin, seoonded by Peralta. tha.t
the request of the City Treuurer ba conourred in. Kotion
oarried.
At this time Councilman Durbin introduced Reso~u-
tion No. 719, a Resolution approving Specifications No. 'lQ

for the furnishing of swit.ch and transformer oil to the
City of Vernon, Having the app.roval of the Committee on
Light & Power, it was moved by Durbin, seoonded by Peralta,
that the Resolut ion be a.dopted. Mot ion carried.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, th&t
the City Clerk be instructed to advertise for bids for the
furnishing of oil and grease, as set forth in Spec,ifications
No. 70. Motion carried.
The following applications, all baving the approval
of the City Engineer, were read:

permi t for the construct ion o.f warehouse at 3215 East Z6th
street. Approximate cost $6500.00.
Applioation 2004: of E. J. Stanton & Son, for building per-
mit for reapr of fire damage to lumber sheds at 2050 East
38th Street. Approximate cost t350.00.
Applica.tion 2005: of California Oregon Paper Mills, for .
building permit to repair quake damage. ApproxiUte cost
$Z500. 00.

for building permit to repair quake damage. Approximate

It waa moved by Durbin, seconded by Pera1ta, that
the applications be filed and the permits granted. Mot ion
carried.
Report of the Cit.y Attorney on demand of Hooven,
Ow1ens, Rentschler Company, was read.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that
the report be filed and a copy ~ereof sent to Hooven, OBens,
Rentschler Company. Kotion carried.
.At this time the City Engineer made a report to the
City Council that the bid of Anton ~obnson Co. was the l~est
and best bid received far the furnishing of labor and mater-
ial aa set forth in Specifioations No. 6~, and recommended
that the cOl'ltract be awarded to Anton Johnson Co.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Leonis, that
the recommendation of the City Engineer be concurred in and
that all bids be rejected except the bid of Anton Jobnson Co..
a.nd that. it be awarded the contra.ct; and that ch~cks of the
unsuccessful bidders be returned. Kotion carried.
