Mot ion carried. At this time the City Clerk announced that he~ had on his desk one bid pursuant to notice inviting sealed bids for the furnishing of switch and transformer oil, as per Specifications No. 70. It w~s moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that the same be r'eferred to the City Engineer for report. Mot ion carried. Communieation from the Finkelstein Foundry Supply Co., rega.rcU.n.gthe"license on his place of business, was r'ead. It was moved by Levy, seconded by Durbin, that the same be referred to' the Finance Committee. Motion carried. Communication fr'om P. P. O'Brien, postmaster, re- questing certain repairs to post office building damaged by earthquake, wa,area.d. It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that the same be referred to the Finance Conmittee. Mot ion carried. Communicat ion from J. M. Gartrin, territorial manager for the Curtis Publishing Company, requesting that a permit be issued to Gordon Blunden to deliver The Se..turday Evening Post and Ladies Home Journal to regular customers in the City, was read. It was moves by Levy, seconded by Durbin, that the cammunication be filed and permit granted. Motion carried. ( Communication from Yellow Cab Company, request- ing permission to operate cabs within the Cit.y of Vernon, was read. It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta., that the same be referred to the City Clerk. Motion carried. Communication from A. U. Brown, for permit to operate automobile repair shop a.t 2025 East 38th Street, was read. It was moved by Levy, seconded by Durbin, that the communication be filed a.nd permit granted. Motion carried. Communication from the Ca.lifornia Rendering Com- pany, for permit for the packing of dry dog food, at 4222 South Froduce Place, was rea.d. It was moved by Levy, seconded by Durbin, that the communication be filed and permit granted. Motion carried. Circular letter from Los Angeles County League of Municipalities, regarding a meeting to be held April 20, 1933, at West Covina, was read. It was moved by Levy, seconded by Durbin, that the same be filed. Motion carried. Communicat.ion from D%s. Peggy Williams, requesting employment as stenographer and switchboard operat or in the power plant, was read. It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that the Communication be filed. Motion carried. Communicat ion from Carl W. vValker, request ing em- ployment as a truck driver, was read. It was moved by Levy, seconded by Durbin, that the same be filed. Motion carried. Motion carried. Approximate cost $350.00. Application 4048: of Owens Farks Lumber Co., for building permit for addition to office at 2100 Ea.st 38th Street. Approximate. cost $400.00. Application 4049: of Pennzoil Company, for building permit for the repairing of quake da.ma.ges at 2626 Santa Fe Avenue. Approximate cost $500.00. Application 4050: of Goldring Packing Company, far building permit for addition at 3461 East Vernon Avenue. Approximate cost $4675.00. Application 4051: of Whiting Vead Company, f:Gr permit to demolish thr'ee frame houses a.t .2038-39-3'7 Ea.st 46th Street. Approxtmate cast $500.00.
