The meeting was cal1.ed to order by the: Mayor-,
:T. J. Furlong.
Councilmen present: Fur1.ong, Leonis, Durbin,
Levy, Peralta
Councilmen absent: None
It was moved by Levy, seC"onded by Pera1ta, that
the reading of the Minutes 01 theprev ious meet ing be dis-
pensed with. Mot ion carr-ied.
Copy of report of Southern California Edison
Company to the State Board of Equalizat ion, was read.
It was moved by Durb in, seconded by Levy, that
the same: be fil.ed. Kot ion carried.
Statement of Southern California Gas Company,
w;ith check 1n the sum of $570.93 attached, for- payment of
franchise tax under Ordinance: Io. 89, was read.
It was moved by Levy, seconded by Peralta, that
the same be referred to the: City Attorney. Motion car-
ried.
COJIll'lUulcat ion fr'om the Line oin Acceptance Cor-
poration, requesting permit to warehouse and recondition
e~ectrical refrigerators, ironers and waShing machines
in the Westland Warehouse at 4814 Lama Vista Avenue, was
read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Per'alta, that
the eommunication be_ filed and the permit granted. Motion
carried.
c,ommunicat ion from Alice Pill.sbury, for permit
to se11 beer at 1unch ear l.ocated. at 25th and Alameda
Streets, was read.
It was moved by Durb in, seconded by Levy, that
the ctmml'tlfticat ion be filed and the permit denied. )[ot ion

Communication fr-om C. M. D. Cafeteria, for per-
mit to Ba11 beer- in cafeteria at 4813 Lama. Vista Avenue,

Report or the POlice Department was read.

c. A. Heinze, Consulting Engineer, requesting ~e City

It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that the
City Engineer be: instructed to emplo-y men to fill. the posi-
tions set forth in said two communications, at sal.arles not
to exceed the maximum set forth ln said communications. Mo-
tion carried.

At this time the engineers and Water &- Power Com-
mittee presented to the: City Council Specifications No. 71..
Councilman Durbin introduced Resolution lio. 722.,
approving Specifications No. 71, and moved its adoption,
which was seconded by Councilman Levy, and carried.
It was moved by Levy, seconded by Peralta., that
the City C1erk be instructed to advertise for bids tor
el.ectrtc m8Jters and instrument transformer-s, as set forth
in Specifications No. 71. Itotion carriad.
At this t ~e the engineers and Water & Po\tler Com-
mittee presented to the City Council Specifications No. 72.
Councilman Durbin introduced Resolution No. 723,
approving Specifications lio. 72, and moved its adoption,
which was seconded by Councilman Levy, and ear-ried.

the Ci'hy CJ.erk be instructed. to advert ise for' bids for
meter teat tabl.e and access.or1es, as set forth in Speci-
fications !fo. 72. 1(otion carr1ed.
At this time the; City Treasurer requested permis-
sion to: transfer from the .American Trust Company o-f San
Francisco to The First National. Bank of Vernon, $25,000.00
to take care o:r p~olla 1n the el.eatrical department of the
City.

the City Treasurer- be instructed to make the transfer.

A.t this time the Gi ty Engineer reported to the
City Council that it wou1d be necessary for the Southern
Califor'nia Edi.on Company to raise or. lower its tranamis-
sion l1rJes in certain places in the c-ity, and requested
1Bstruct iOlla as to how to approach said C:ompany-.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that
the City lIogin-ear be inatructted. to draw the necessary mapa
showing the ehaRge required and send same to the City At-
torney who is instrucned to cOJl\tl'llDJicaie with the Southern
California Edison C::ompany and make the request in the name
of the City. J(otion carried.
