The me et ing was call.ed to order by the Mayor,
J. J. Fur-long.
Councilmen present: Furlong, Durbin, Levy, Pera.l.ta
Councilmen absent: Leonis
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that the
rea.ding of the Minutes of the pr ev ious meet ing be dispensed
with. Mot ion carried.
A.t this time: the City Clerk announced that he had
bids upon his desk, pursuant to notice, forthe construction
of a pole yard, as per Specifications No. ?3.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that the
Cl.erk open and read the bids. Mot ion carr ied.
The City Clerk opened and rcead bids from the
following firms:
Contracting Engineers
L. A.. Paving Co.
Ii!: was moved by Levy, seconded by Durbin, that all
bids be referred to the City Engineer for checking and re-
port. 1[otion carried.
At this time the City Clerk announced that he had
bids upon his desk for the furnishing of weatherproof' switch
houses a.nd appurtenances, as per Specifications No. 74.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, tha"t
the City Clerk open and read the bids. Motion carried.
The City Clerk opened and read bids from the follow-
ing firms:

It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Per-a1.ta, that
all bids be referred to the City Engineer for cheoking and
report. Kotion carried.
At this time the City C1e~k announced that he had
bids upon his desk for the furnishing of Diesel fuel oi1
and lubrioating oil, in accordatlCe with Speoifications lio. 75.
It was moved by Dur.bin, seconded by Peralta, that
the Clerk open the~ bids. Motion oarried.
The City Clerk opened and read bids from the

phone Company, with check in the Sl.ml of $4690.71 attached
for' payment of franchise tax on Ordina.nce 108, was read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that the
same be filed. llot ion carried.
Cormnunicat ion from H. C. Cherry, offering t85. 00
for pile of scra.p iron in rear of city yards, was read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that the
same be referred to the City Eng ine er. Mot ion - car-ri ed .
Communication from Haas, Baruch & Co., regarding
the distribution of 3.2 beer, was read.
It was moved by Levy, seconded by Durbin, that the
same be laid.. over to the next r'egul.a.r meeting. :Motion carried.

mit to distribute beer, wholesale and retail, from Westland
\fIarehouse, Inc., was read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that the
same be laid over until the next r'egular meet ing. llot ion
carried.
Communica.tion from Passer M. Furra, for permit to
sell fruit and vegeta.b1es from truck at 26th and Soto Streets,
wa.s read.
It was moved by Levy, seconded by Durbin, that the
same be referred to the Police Department. Mot ion carried.
Communication from J. A. Campbell, for permit to
operate pa:rking stat ion on the southeast co:rmer of Vernon
and Alameda Streets, Was read.
It was moved by Durb in, seconded by Levy, that the
permit be granted subject to the approval of the Police De-
partment. Motion carried.
Communication from A. D. Roberts, for permit to
operate; lead smelting and refining businessat 1907 East
55th Street, was read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, t.hat the
same be referred to the City Engineer. - Mot ion carried.
Communication from the Feed Mill. Bag <<:0., for permit
to conduct business of manufacturing burlap and cottQJn cloth
bags at 4232. S. Produce Plaza, wa.s read.

The Engineering Department, with the approval
of the Water & Power Committee, then reported that the
L. A.. Paving Co. bid was the lowest and best bid re-
ceived for the c.onstruct ion of a pole yard, in acc'ord-
ance with Specifications No. 73., and recommended that
the contract be awarded to said L. A.. Paving Co.
It wa.s moved by Levy, seconded by Durbin, that
the recommendation of the Engineering Department be con-
curred in and that the contra.ct for the construct ion of
&. pole yard be' awarded to L. A.. Pav ing Co., the lowest
and best bidder, at the price named in its bid, and that
checks be returned to the unsuccesaful bidders. Motion
carried.
Demands on the General Fund, in the sum of
$7,547.33, consisting of the following items, were read:

It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that
the demands be allowed and war-rants issued for the amounts.
