Coun~llmen present: Fur~ong, Leonis, Durbin, Levy, Pera.1.ta Councilmen absent: None It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that the reading of the Minutes of the previous meeting be dis- pensed with. Motion carried. At this time the City Clerk announced that he had on his desk, pursuant to notice inviting bids, bids for the furnishing and erection of a fence around the City's p ower plant. It wa.s moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that the City Clerk open and read the bids. .otion carried. The City Clerk opened a.nd public~y read bids from: Anchor Post Fence Company Southern Califor'nia Fence Co. Crown Fence & Supply Co. Standard Fence Campany Pacific Fence Construction Co. R. E. Knepper It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that all bids be referred to the City Engineer for checking and rep.ort. Mot ion carried.. Communicat ion from Grower's Cold Storage Corporat ion, for permit to haul refuse from premises at 5050 South Alameda Street, along and upon the streets of the City of Vernon, was read. It was moved by Levy, seconded by Durbin, that the communication be fil.ed and the permit granted. Motion carried. Communicat ion fram the Fire Department, on applica- tion of Associated Box Manufacturing Company, was read. Which recommended that the permit be granted. It was moved by Levy, seconded by Durbin, that the reeommendation of the Fire Department be concurred in and that the application be filed and the permit granted. Mot ion carried. C01l11'AUl1icat ion from the Fire Department, on applica- tion of Feed Bag lUll Compa.ny, recOIm'llending that the applica- tion be granted, was read. It was moved by Levy, seconded by Durbin, that the recommendation be concurred in and that the applica1l10n be filed and the permit granted. :Motion carried. . -1- 312 I ~ I I I. I Communicat ion from the LOB Angeles County Grand Jury, regarding the oonstruct ion of public buildinglJ and se:hools, was read. It was moved by Levy, seconded by Durb in, that the same be filed. }lot ion carried. At this time the City Engineer recommended to the Cit.y Council that the contract for the furnishing and building of a fence around the Power Plant be awarded to Mahor' Post Fence Company at a price of 12875.00, the bid of this company being the lowest and best bid. It was moved by Leonie, aeconded by Levy, that the recommendat ion of the en ty Engineer be concurred in an.d that all bids be re.jeated except the bid of Anahor Post Fence Company and that it be awarded the contraat for the furnishing and building of a fence around the Pcnwer Plant at the price named in its bid, and that all checks be returned to unsuccessful bidders. }lotion carried. The following applications, all having the approval of the City Engineer, were read: Application 4076: of Los Angeles By-Products Co., for build- ing permit for the construct. ion of pit for truck sca1es and office at 1822 East 25th Stree.t. Approximate cost $2,000.00. ApplicatJon 4077: of Filtrol Company, for building permit for the construetiOn of' office a'&1755 DownyRoad. Approximate coat $600.00. Application 4078: of Dra.Moore & Hall, for buil.ding permit to repair quake damage at 5592 Santa Fe AV'enue. A.pproxima'te coat .75.00. Application 4079: of Standard Packing Co., for building per- mit to repa..1r damages by quake at 2440 East Vernon A1/enue. Approximate cost .75.00. Application 4080: of Wilshire Oil Co., for building permit for the construction of partitions in print shop at 2455 East 27th Street. Approximate cost $50.00.
