The City Clerk announced that he had upon his desk bids, pursuant to public. notice advertising for same, on Specifications Nos. 76, 77 and 78. It was moved by Peralta, seconded by Levy, that the City C1erk be instructed to open bids. ](otion carried. The City Clerk presented an ordinance from Atchison, Topeka &: Santa l'e Railway to operate a rai1.road spur track across 29th Street and Santa l'e Avenue. It waa moved by Levy, seconded by Durbin, that the same be referred to the City Attorney for report. Kotion carried. A circular letter from the State, Association of California Architeets, regarding Assembly Bill No. 2391, was read. Isaacs, on application of Refiners Corporation, to operate a refinery at 2411 East 30th Street, formerly occupied by Hercules Gasoline Company, was read. It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that the same be :filed. Mot ion oarried. . Report of the Fire Department on applicat ion of Wisemaid Products Co., for permit to manu:facture glass cleaner, at 4810 Everett Street, was read. It was maved by Durbin, seconded by peral.tat that the same be laid over. Mot ion carried. Report of the Police Department was read. It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Pera1ta, that the same be filed. Motion oarried. Approximate cost $3000.00. Application 4125: of Tovrea Packing Company, for building permit to construct entrance to mea.t cooler at 381~ Soto Street. Approximate cost 150.00. Applica.tion 4126: of Patten BI.inn Lumber c.ompany, for buil.d- ing permit to construct new ~umber sheds at 26th a.nd Soto Streets. Approximate cost $2000.00. Appl.icatioll 4127: of Vernon Tool Company, for building per- mit to construct garage at 2740 East 37th Street. Company, for building permit for the installation of 550 gallon gaSOline tank at 2501 East Vernon Avenue. Approximate cost $150.00. Applica.tion 4131: of Sta.uffer Chemical Company, for permit to lay 4" cut iron pipe. line across East 26th Street, as per' p1an. filed. Application 4132.: of Smith Tank Lines, for' permit to con- struct driveway at 2607 East 26th Street. It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, tha.t the applications be filed and permits granted. Iotion carried. At this time the City Clerk announced that this was the time and place set for the hearing of protests on the final report of the Committee heretofore appointed by the City Council upon the zoning of a portion of the City of Vernon. The Mayor at this time asked if there was anyone present who bad any protest to offer. There being no response, the City Clerk announced that no written protest had been filed with h1m:. '1'he. City Clerk further announced that he had ca.used notice of the filing of the final report of the Committee to be published and posted in the ma.nner required by law. It was moved by Levy, seconded by ~era1ta, that the report of the Committee be appr oved and adopt ed. Mot ion carried. At this time Councilman Durbin introduced 1IJl Ordinance No. 465, an ordinance zoning a portion of the City of Vernon for the carrying on of certain businesses in accordance with the report of the Committee and approved this date, and moved that it be passed for first reading, Which was seconded by Councilman Levy, and carried.
