The meet ing was cal1ed to order by the: Mayor, J. J.
Councilmen present: Furlong, Durbin, Pera.:Lta
Counc ilmen absent: Leo.nie, Levy
It Was moved by Durbin, seconded by Pera1.ta, that
the reading of the Minutes of the previous meeting be dis-
pensed with. Mot iOI1 carried.
At this time the City Engineer and Consult ing
Engineer reported upon the bids referred to them on Jul.y
17, 1933, and recommended as follow:s: That a.ll 'bids 'be
rejected. except the bid of the Anaconda Wire and Cable
Company and that it be awarded the contra.ct for the fur-
nishing and delivering of the merchandise set forth in
the not ic.e inviting sea1.ed proposa.ls or bids and de-
scribed in Specifications No. 76.
It was moved 'by Peralta, seconded by Durbin,
that all bids for the furnishing of material in acc:or-d~
ancewith Specifications No. 76 be rejected except the
bid of the Anaconda Wire and Cable Company, and that it
be awarded the contract, and that all cheeks be returned
to unsuccessful 'bidders. Mot ion carried.
'1'he City Engineer and Consulting Engineer recom-
mended that contracts be awarded on Specifications No. 77,
Item r, sub-items Ca) and (b) to the Columbia Steel Com-
pany, and Items II to XII to The Joslyn Company, they being
the lowest and best bidderli.
It was moved by Pera1ta., seconded by Durbin, that
all bids for the furnishing of material set forth in Speci-
fications No. 77 in accordance with the notice inviting
seaJ..ed proposals, be rejected except the bids of Columbia
Steel. Company a.nd The J'oslyn Company, and that they be
awarded the contra.cts in a.ccorda.nce with the engineers'
reaommendation, ahd. that all checks be returned to unsuccess-
ful bidders. Motion carried.
The City Engineer and Consulting Engineer reeam-
~ended that all bids be rejected except the bid of General
Cable Company and that it be a.warded the contraat for the
furnishing a.nd delivering of the merchandise set forth in
the notice inviting sealed proposals or bids and described
inSpecificat ions Ero. 78.
It was moved by Pera.1ta., seconded by Durbin,
that all bids for the furnishing of material in acaard-
anae with Specifications Ro. 78 'be rejected except the bid
of General Cable Company, and that it be awarded the con-
tract, and th&t all checks be retUrned to unsucaesaful.

Application of Southern California Meat Co., for
permit to slaughter animals at its location at 3301 East
Vernon Avenue, was read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, tha.1i
the applica.tion be filed and the permit granted. Mot ion
carried.
The following a.pplications for permits to haul
refuse fram their premises upon and along the streets of
the city of Vernon were read:
Goldring Packing Company
L. A. Rubber & As'bestor Works
Hat ional City Turpentine Company
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that
all conmmnications be filed and the permits. granted. Motion
carried.
At this tUne Councilman Durbin introduced Or-
dinance No. 466. a.n ordinance fixing bonds of city employeea
and officials, and moved that it. be passed for first reading,
which \'la,s seconded by Councilman Peralta, a.nd carried.
