It was moved by Levy, seconded by Durbin, that the
rea.ding of the Kinutes of the prev ioua meet ing be, dispensed
with. }lot ion carried.
At this time the City Engineer recommended that &11
bids received for the furnishing and delivery of earth bar-
ing and p01e setting machine on September 5, 1933, be re-
jected.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that all.
bide received September 5, 1933, for the furnishing a.nd de-
livery of earth boring and pole setting machine be rejected,
and a.11 checks returned to biddera. Vat ion carried.
It Wa.s moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that the
City A.ttorney be instructed, in the na.me of the City, to
wr ite to the Sta.uffer Chemical Company and, if possible as-
certain their v iaws on wby they fa.iled to carry aut their
agreement with the city in reference to connecting their
plant with the city's power syetem. Motion carried.
ORDINANCE NO. 468, ane, Ordinance amending Section
23 of Ordiua.nce No. 395 of thee! ty of Vernon was r'ead for'
first rea.ding.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that
Ordinance No. 468 be passed for fir'st reading. Mot ion car-
ried.
Circular letter from Board of Underwriters af the
Pacific, regarding meeting of Pacific Coa.st Association of
Fire Chiefs, to be held in Portland on September 26th to
28th, ~933, was read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that the
same be filed. Motion carried.
Report of General 2etroleum Corporation, on pipe
lines laid under Los Angeles County Ordinance No. 781, '11&8
read.
It was moved by Leonie, seconded by Pera.1ta, that
the same be filed. Mot ion carried.
Circular letter from Los Angeles Chamber of Com-
merce, regarding re-al:location of $15.000,000 Federal High-
.&7 J'uud, was read.
