'1'he meeting was called to order by the MayO?, ;T. if.
Councilmen presen't: Furlong, Leonis, Durbin, Levy
Caunc iImen absent: Peralta
It was moved by Levy, seconded by Durbin, that the
reading of the Minutes of the previous meeting be dispensed
with. llot.ion carried.
At this time the Electrical Department of the City
presented a new scale of wages based upon a forty-hour week.
and reques'ted the Council tp approve same, effective as of
November 1, 1953.
The same having the approval of the Water & Power
Committee, it Was moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that
the report of the Electrical Department be fi~ed and the
recommendations concurred in in reference to ..ages and forty
hours per week, beginning November ~, 1953. Motion carried.
At this time the First National Bank of Vernon pre-
sented. to the City Counc il a bid for the purchase of. t200,000
City of Vernon Light and Power Works Plant and Distribution
System bonds, voted Sep'tember 10, 1930, in the following form:

Cauncilman Durbin introduced Resolutian Ia. 7~9, a
Resalutian of the City Council of the City of Vernon, auth-
arizing the sale of $200.000.00 in bands to. The Firat National
Bank af Vernon, and moved its adoption, which was seconded
by Councilman Levy, and carried.
It waa moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that the
applicatian of Foster & neiser to erect two signboards in
the City of Ve.rnon at or near Slauson Avenue, was granted.
Mot ion carried.
Communicatian from P. P. OtBrien, J!ostmaster of
the City of Los Angeles, in ref'erenee to. p.ast office build-
ing in the City 0.1' Vernan, was read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that the
same be referred to. the City Engineer for checking and re-
port. )(o.t ion carried.

It was moved by Levy, seconded by Durbin, that the
same be referred to the City Attarney. Jlation carried.
