J. Furlong. Councilmen present: eounci~en absent: Furlong, Durbin, Pera~ta Leonis, Levy It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that the reading of the Minutes of the previous meeting be dis- pensed with. .ot ion oarried. RESOLU!'ION No. 742, a resolution approving Speci- fications No. 81 for the furnishing and delivering of weather- proof switch houses and appurtenances, was read. It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that Reso~ution No. 742 be adopted. Motion carried. Communicat ions from Postmaster P. P. 0 tBrien, Los Angeles, and the Post Office Department in ~Vashington, D. C., regarding condition of the postoffice quarters in the city of Vernon, were read. It was moyed by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that the same be referred to the City Engineer. Motion carried. Communication from Delbert A. Hesaick, City Attorney of Huntington Park, regarding a protest filed with the city of Huntington Pa.rk in reference to noise emanating from the Vernon power plant, was read. It waa moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that the communication be referred to the \fater & Power Committee. Motion carried. Report of the Police Department was read. It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that the same be filed. Motion c&r'ried. It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that the salary of Ur. DeSellan, as auditor for the department of Water &: 'pOwer, be fixed at $2.50.00 per month beginning January 1, 1934, until fur~her order of the City Council. Motion c:arried. It was moved by Peralta, seconded by Durbin, that the City Clerk be instructed to advertise for bids for the furnishing of weatherproof switch houses and appurtena.nces, as contemplated in Specifications No. 81. Motion carried. The following applicat ions, all having the approval ,. 1- of the City Enginee:t', Wiere read: Application 4256: of Owens Par-ks Lumber Co., for permit to install add it ion to spr.inkler system at 2100 East 38th Street. Approximate cost $300.00. Application 4257: of Harmon Packing Co., for permit to in- stall. 550 gallon tank and hand operated. pump at 3305 East Vernon Avenue. Approximate cost $90.00. Applicat ion 4258: of Globe Packing Co., for building permit to ereet board fence at 3207 East Vernon Avenue. Approxi- mate cost $200.00. Application 4259: of Richfield Oil Co., for permit to con- nect 4. inch gasoline line on East 28th Street. It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta., that the appllcat ions be filed and p e.rm it s granted. 1I0t ion carried. Demands on the General Fund in the sum of $9,920.80, consisting of the following items, Wiere read: Payrolls Expen.ses Trust Deposit Refunds 14,544.06 5,371.74 5.00 It Wias moved by Peralta, seconded by Durbin, that the demands be allowed a.nd warrants drawn for the same.
