It was moved by Levy, seconded by Peralta, that the
reading of the llinutes of the previous meeting be dispensed
with. Motion carried.
Communicat ion from the Los Angeles Railway Company
requesting permit to serve sandwiches. confectionery and
bottled carbonated beverages fno beer or other intoxicants)
on property of the Los Angeles RaIlway, near Pac if ic Boulevard
and East Vernon Avenue. during ball game on Sunday, Mareh 25,
1934, wa.s read.
It was moved by Leonis. seconded by Pera1ta, that the
communica.t ion be fiJ.ed and permit grant ed. Mot ion carried.
Communicat ion from 'I'ony Adolph and Harry .Johnson, for
permit to cond.uct and opera.te a restaurant at 4401 Downey Road,
was read.
It was moved by Levy, seconded by .Peralta, that the
communication be filed a.nd permit gra.nted. Motion carried.
eommunica~ion from Pete Salcedo, for permit to.make
flower pots in river bed near 2696 South Soto street, was read.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Levy, that the
communication be filed and permit granted for the purpose of
making said flower pots. ]lotion carried.

County Franchise No. 596 N.S., with check in the sum of
$7.56 attached, wa.a read.
It Was moved by Levy, seconded by Peralta, that the
report be fi1.ed. Motion carried.
Communication from the Wilshire Oil Company, re-
garding penalty alilsessed on delinquent wa.ter bil1., was read.
It WaS moved by Leonis, seconded by Pera1.ta., that
the matter be referred to the tlater & Power Committee for
investigation and. recommendation and with authority to aettle
the matter. . Motion carried.
Communication from Delbert A. Hessick, City Attorney
of Huntington Park, regarding noise and vibration of the p~er
plant, was read.
It was moved by Levy, seconded by Leonis, that the
same be filed and the City Clerk be instructed to natifythe
Huntington Park City Attorney that the same had been referred
to the Wa.ter &: Power Committee. Motion carried.
Communication from Betty Elsie Bogler and Betty
McGuire, for permit to operate restaurant at 2038t East Vernon
Avenue, was read.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Levy, tha.t the
communication be filed and permit granted. Motion carried.
Circular letter from the California Municipal Util-

It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Levy, that the
same be filed. Motion carried.
Communication from Wayne Johnson, electrical en-
gineer, approved by Howard McCurdy, city engineer, a.nd
Committee on Wat er & Power, r~garding adj ustment of eleet.ric
energy used upon the premises set forth in said comm.u.nication,
was read.
It was moved by Levy, seconded by Peralta, that the
communication be fi1.ed a.nd the recommendation of the committee

ings held Mareh 6 and ~3, 1934, were read.
It was moved by Levy, seconded by ~eralta, that the
same be filed. Motion carried.
ORDINANCE NO. 472, an Ordinance amending Ordinance
No. 469 of the City of Vernon, was read.

It was moved by Levy, seconded by lPeralta, that
Ordinance No. 472 be passed for first reading. Motion carried.
At this t we the city attorney recommended to the
City Council ace:eptance of payments on franchise tax,due the
city of Vernon, on October 31 hereafter instead of the t we
set forth in the~ranchises.
It was moved~by LeVY, seconded by Peralta, that
the'recommendation of the city attorney be concurred in.
Motion CArried.
At ,this time the city attorney recommended that the
bond of the lla.ssachusetts Bond & Insurance, Company, iil.ed by
the General Pipe Line Company of California., under franchise
ordinance No. 393, be accepted in l.ieu of the bond filed by
the Hardford Accident & Indemnity Company, and that the Hart-
ford Accident' & Indemnity CoUipany be exonerated upon it s bond
effect ive August 26, 1932, the date of subatitut ion of bonds
by the Gener~l Pipe Line Company.
It wa.s moved by Levy, seconded by Peralta., that the
recommendation of the city attorney be/concurred in. Motion
oarried. .

of the city engineer, were read:

construct core oven at 2316 East 52nd Street. Approximate
cost t50.00.
Applica.tion 4308: of U. S. Spring & Bumper Company, for permit
to construct office at 4951 ~gnolia Avenue. Af>proxima.te cost
$1500.00.

It Was moved by Levy, seconded by Peralta, that
the applications be filed and permits granted. Motion car-
ried.
Report o.f the Police Department upon the applica-
tion of Rainier Brewing Company, for permit to distribute
beer at 4433 East 49th Street, was rea.d; the police Depart-
ment report recOl'l'mIending that the permit be granted.
It wa.s moved by Levy, seconded by Peralta., that
the report of the Police Department be filed and recommenda-
tions concurred in. Motion carried.
Report of the Police Department upon the applica-
t ion of Tacoma. Brewing Compa.ny, for permit to distribute beer
at 4433 East 49th Street, was read; the Police Department re..
port recommending that the permit be grant ed.
It was moved by Levy, seconded by Peralta, that
the report of the Police Department be filed and recommenda-
tions eoncurred in. Motion carried.
Demands on the General Fund, in the sum of $24,053.17,
