The meeting was called to order by the Hayer,
:T. 1'. Furlong.
Councilmen preaent: Furlong, Dur'bin, Levy, Peruta
Councilmen abant: Leona
It wa.s moved by Durbin, seconded by PeraJ:ta, that
the reading f)f the nnutea of the previous meeting be dis-
pensed with. Jlotion carried.
Agreement submit tad by A.tchison, Topeka Be Santa Fe
Railway Company, covering guy atup a.nd a.nchor and pOVler line
on right-of-wa.y in v icinlty of East 26th street and Downey
R.oad, was read. the same hav ing the approval of the City
Engineer and the Water &: Power Committee.
It waa moved by Durbin, seconded by Peruta, that
the agreement aa submitted be approved and the ][ayo.r and City
Clerk authoriz.ed to execute same. )lot ion carried.

ORDINBCE. NO. 4'15, an ordinance fixing the rate of
taxes and levying the taxes for the fiscal year beginning
July l, 1934, was read for first reading.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by peruta, that
Ordinance No. 475 be passed for first reading. Motion car-
ried.

It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peruta, that
the communications be filed and the pe.rmite granted. Xotiott
carried.
At this time the City Attorney a.nnounced that the
'Petrol. aorporat ion, a corporation furniShing fuel oil ta the
City of Vernon, had filed an ac.t ion against the City to re-
cover far fu.el oi1 all.eged to have been furnished the City
without. payment, and requested that the City em];)loy I. R.
Young to &asist him in the defense of sa.id action.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that E. R.
Young be empl.oyed to assist the City Attorney in the defense
of an a.ct ion brought against the City by the Petrol CorpoJIaticm
and that the said E. R. Young be allOWied a reasonable com-
pensation for his services. Motion car-r1ed.
