The meeting was called to order by the Mayor,
:r. :r. Furlong.
Councilmen present: Furlong, Leonis, Durbin, Levy,

Counc.ilmen absent: None
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that the
reading of the Minutes of the previous meeting be dispensed
with. Motion c.arried.
Communication from Na.tional Mi11s, Inc., advisiag
that it had leased building at 5000 Pa.cific Boulevard (former-
ly Freidman Foundry) was read.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by PeraJ.ta, that
the communication be filed. Motion car.ried.
Communicat ion from Growera' Cold Storage Corporation,
for permit to haul refuse from premises a.t 5050 Alameda Street,
was read.
It Vl&S moved by Leonis, seconded by 'Peralta, that
the communicat ion be filed and permit granted. Mot ion carried.
Report of the Los Angeles Railway Corporat ion on
Fra.nchise 110. 91, with aheck in the sum of $225.81 attached,
was. read.
It was. moved by Levy, seconded by Peralta, that the
report be f'iled. Mot ion carried.

Report of the Police Department was. read.
It was moved by Levy, seconded by Per-al ta, that the
same be filed. Motion carried.
Communication fram Vernon Industrial Development
Aaaociation Was read.
It was. moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that the
comm.unicat ion be fil.ed and referred to the Committee on Water
&: Power. Motion carried.
ORDINANCE BO. 476, an ordinance amending Ordinance
No. 347, Seetion 31, was read for fir-at reading.
It was. moved by Durbin, seconded by PeraJ.ta, that
Ordinance No. -i76 be paaaed for first reading. Motion aarried.
It was moved by Durbin, aeaonded by Peralta, that,
owing to the fact that the City has no City Flanning Commis-
sion, the City Counc:i~ be instructed to make a. thOirough. survey
of the slaughter house, packing house, feed yard, and ahemical.
zones with the view in mind tha.t if same is desirable for the
beat interest of the City that their. lines may be changed; aDd
tha.t after said study the said City Council, acting as a
Committee of the Wh01e, shal~ make a tentat ive report in the

manner provided in Ad 994, Deering's Genera.1Lawe, approved
May Sl, 1.91.7, and. &1.1 aats supplementary or amendatory
thereof. Mot ion carried.
Minutes of the Committ.ee on Water & 'power for meet-
ings of August 29 and September 4, 1934, were read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded. by Peralta, that
the same be fi1.ed. Motion carried.
The following applications, all having the approval
of the City Engineer, were read:
