Councilmen present: Furclong, Durbin, Peralta. Counci1men absent: Leonis, Levy It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that the reading of the Minutes of the previous meeting be dis- pensed with. Motion carried. Contract submitted by Littlejohn Reula.nd Compa.ny_ regarding the year's supply of eleetric lamps to be used by the City, was read, said contract previously having been ap- proved by the City Engineer and the Committee onlfater & Power. It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that the City Clerk be authorized to sign said contract in the name of the City. Motion carried. Communication ~rom Bureau of Budget and Efficiency. Oi ty of Los Angeles, request ing certa.in data therein mea- t ioned, was read. It was moved by DuI'bin, seconded by Peralta. that the same be re~erred to the Finance Committee. Motion carried. Communication from Bank of America, Vernon Branch, requesting financial statement, was read. It wa.s moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that the same be referred to the Finance Commit tee. At thia time, Attorney Sparlil'lg, on behal:f of the Standard Steel Company, addresaed the Council in reference to a pending applicat ion for a permit of the Rich Steel Jlanu- :tact ur ing C"ompany. At this time the City Engineer reported that he had exaaiaed aJ.l bids submitted to the City for the erection and delivering of the 25,000 barrel 011 st orage tank, and that the bid o:! the Pa.eifie Coast Steel Coaporation was the lowest and beat bid, and recommended that all. bids be rej ected except the bid of the Pacific: Coaat Steel Corporation. It was moved b.Y Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that the report and reeommandation of the City Engineer be concurred 1n and that al.l bids be rejected except the bid of the Pacific Coast Steel Corporatioll; that it be awarded the contract; that all checks of Uf.lsuoces.iul bidders be returned to them, and. that the City Attorney' 4:raw the contract between the City and the_ci1'ie Coaat Steel Corporation. Hotion carried. At this time the City Engineer reporte4 that, in his opinion, the market just i1'ied the buying of add.it 10Dal 10,000 barrels of fuel oil from the E&ter Sal.es corporat ion, and re- queated the approval of the City Council. After some discussion, it was moved by Durbin, second.. by Peralta., that the City Engineer be authorized to purchase said. oi1. Motion carried. Demands on the Gel1eral Fund in the sum of 112, '13a. 3.1, eonsiating of the following items, were read: Payro11 Expenaea $11,196.32 1.,541.99 It waa moved by Penl.ta, seconded by Durbin, that the demands be allowed and warrants drawn for the same.
