It Was moved by Leonis, seconded by Levy, that the same be referred to the Wat er &.power Committee. Mot ion carried. Communica.tion from First National Trust &: Savings Bank, San Diego,t. requesting copy of annual report for the fiscal year 193,.,-34, was read. It was moved by L.evy, seconded by Leonie, that the same be referred to the Water &: Power Committee. Motion carried. Communication from Shippers Association, regarding condition of East 37th Street, was read. It was moved by Levy, seconded by Durbin, tha.t the same be re:ferred to the Street Department. Mot ion carried. Communication from Ben Vogel, operating under the name of "EVelyn CQats", for permit to manufacture ladies' cI-oaks and suits at 4.529 East 49th Street, was read. It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that the communication be fi~ed and permit granted. Motion carried. Communication from Atlas Sawdust &: Sha.vings, Ltd., for permit to move p~ant to 2149 East 37th Street, was read. It was moved by Durbin, seoonded by Levy, that the same be filed and re:ferred to the Committee of the Whole. Mo- tion carried. Communioation from M. Vasquez and M. It waa moved by Durbin, seconded by LeVY, that the tentative report and reeommendations be approved as such, and that a public hearing or hearings be had upon the same, by giv tag not ice ther~of, on the 7th day of ~a.n~ary, 1935, at the CouncIl Chambers 1n the City Ha1.1. of thec:e1ty of Ver'non, located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue., Vernon, California, so that all persons and the general public may. have an opportunity to be heard;. tha.t, there being no newspaper of general c ire:u1a- tion within the municipality, said notice shall be given by post ing same in three of the moat conspicuous places within the City, to-wit: at the northwest corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; at the northwest corner of 37th street and S&nta. Jle Avenue, a.nd on the. bul1.et in board in the ~o.bby of the City Hall of the city of Vernon, 10cated at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue; a.nd the City Clerk is hereby ordered to post sa.id notic:ea within the week in which the said meeting shall be held. At this time. the City Engineer reported 'that 'the State Engineer had communica.ted with him, and that there was now due the city uuder the gas tax appropria.tion the sum of $1500.0Q, and requested informat ion from the C-ouacil as to \'lhere said money was to be used in the event of payment. 1t VIas moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that the said sum of $1500.0Q, to be received from the State of ealiforn1a under the gas tax appropriat ion be used e1tClusively in the repair of Downey Road between the north boundary 1i_e of the city and Fruit1a.nd Avenue. :Motion car'ried.
