At this time the City Engineer filed a report and
recommendation for the furnishing of cylinde1" and fuel oil
as per Specifica.tions No. 87, and reported tha" She11 Oil
Companyts bid was the lowest and best bid on Items NOS. I and
II, and Texas Company of California's bid was the lowest and
best. bid on Item Io. III, and recommended that c.ont.racts be
awarded to said two companies.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that
Items I and II of Specificat ions No. 87 be awarded to Shell
Oil Company and Item III be awarded to Texas Company of Cali-
fornia; that all other bids be rejec.ted and checks returned to
unsucc:essfuI bidders, and that the ai ty A.ttorney be instructed
to draw contl'"acts for the furnishing of said jlUa.".i..t\'1III8uwub.

Report of the Division of Accident and Safety of the
California State Industrial Insurance, in reference to one
Frank Bernard, employee of the city, was read.
It was moved by Duxtin, seconded by Peralta, that the,

At this t iDle the City Attorney reporte.d that the
bond heretofore filed by Fidelity & Deposit Company of Maryland
aas.tlr"ing the refilling of the excavation made by A. S. Vinnell
Company be can.celled, as the property is now occupied by
American Foundry, whioh company will not allow Mr. Vinnell on
the property.
It was moved by Durb in, seconded by Levy, that Fidelity
& Deposit Company of Maryland be relieved on its bond in the sum
of $2500.00, dated JUly, 1931, wherein A. S. Vinnell is pr~-
cipal and Fidelity & Deposit Company of Maryland, surety. Motion

Communication from The First National Bank of Ver'non,
addressed to the City Attorney, informing him that said bank
would pay a fixed rate of one per cent per annum on i_ct iv&.
deposits, and one-half of one per cent per annum on active
deposits, on and after September 1.5, 1935" was read.

communicat.ion be filed. Motion carried.
ORDINANCE NO. 486, an ordina.nce ordering that a
certain portion of East Fiftieth Street in the City o~ Vernon
be closed up, 'Vacated and abandoned, was read for first read-

Ordinance No. 486 be passed for first reading. Motion carried.

Minutes of the meetings of the Water & Power Committee
of September lOth and 17th, 1935, were read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that the
same be filed. Motion carried.

ORDINANCE NO. 487, an ordinance re1ating to the
care and expenditure of moneys received from the State of
California under the provisions of Article 5, Chapter 1,
Division I of the Streets and Highways Code, was read for
first reading.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that
Ordinance No. 487 be passed for first reading. Motion
carried.
ORDINANCE NO. 488, an ordinance r'elating to the
care and expenditure of moneys received by the Light &
Power- Departme.nt of the City of Vernon, was read for first
readi.ng.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that
Ordinance No. 488 be passed f or first reading. Mot ion carried.
Communication from Noah Peeler, 2434 East 53 rd
Street, submitting application for employment as watchman at
the Light & Power plant, was read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that the
same be filed. Mot ion carr-ied.
Demand of Minnie D.'Ker'din in the sum of $1000.00,
for granting permission to construct storm drain through prop-
erty on Soto Street east of 37th Street, was r'ead.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that the:
demand be allowed and a warrant drawn for the same. Motion
carried.

Application 4587: of OWens Parks Lumber Company, for permit
to install sawdust saparat or at 2100 East 38th st reet, at a.n
approximate cost of 1875.00, was read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by .Pera.1ta, that the
a.pplicat ion be. filed and the permit granted subject to an in-
spection and approval by the Fire Chief. Motion ~arried.
Application 4595: of Kennedy Name Pute Company, for' permit to
install 650 gallon gasoline storage tank and pump at 4509 Pacific
Blvd., at an approximate cost of $75.00, was read.
It was. move.d by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that said
application be filed and permit granted subject to inspection
and appr'oval of the Fire Chief. Motion carried.

Avenue. APprOximate cost $12,000.00.
Application 4590: of E. 3'. Stanton Lumber Compa.ny, for permit
to move shad from one location to another on premises of 2050 East
38th Street. Approximate cost $35.00.
